What will I be doing this year?

Welcome to Miss Fox’s Classroom Procedures and Guidelines for English 3

Guideline #1 Be in your assigned seat and working on the assigned bellwork when the tardy bell rings.

Today’s Special Ms. Fox’s Literature Lounge 8/12/14 Bellwork: “If I could be principal for a day… “ Objectives: Students will be able to understand the classroom policies and procedures.

Guideline #2 Bring ALL books and materials to class and take them with you when you leave.

Treat each person in this room with respect and dignity. Guideline #3 Treat each person in this room with respect and dignity.

Follow directions the first time they are given. Guideline #4 Follow directions the first time they are given.

Guideline #5 Follow all procedures and policies as outlined in the Parkway West Handbook.

Special Guideline This classroom is a “No Whining Zone”. That means that there will be no whining, for ANY reason. Everything that I do is in your best interest, so please respect the “No Whining Zone” this semester.

Not Following Guidelines will result in . . . 1st 2 Warnings and documentation (Guideline Infraction Notice) 2nd Action Plan and Parental Contact as well as after school detention in my room 3rd Disciplinary Referral

Guideline Infraction Notice

Guideline Infraction Notice Read it Sign it Keep it until the end of class

Guideline Infraction Notice This is a notice that I give to you if you are doing something you should not be doing in class It is a non-confrontational way of communicating to you that you are doing something that is inappropriate for the classroom I will hand you the notice. I will have filled in the offense, which is whatever it is that you are doing, and ask you to see me after class You will read the notice, sign it, and give it back to me and talk about it after class Doesn’t always mean you are in trouble or that I am upset with you, I may just want to talk to you about something

2. What’s causing the problem? (Please list the factors) Miss Fox’s Action Plan What’s the problem? 2. What’s causing the problem? (Please list the factors) 3. Severe Clause Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other students), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY.

You’ve been Pink-Slipped! Date: _____________________________ Printed Name:_______________________ Class Section:_______________________ You’ve been Pink-Slipped! Completing your homework or assignment is your responsibility as a student. Missing Assignment: ____________________________________________ I do not have my homework today because: _____ I did the assigned homework, but I did not bring it to class. _____ I chose not to do my homework. _____ I forgot to do my homework. _____ I did not have the appropriate materials at home. _____ Other—please explain below. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Signature _______________________________________

Pink Slip This is for students who do not have the assigned homework. Fill it out. Sign and date it. Turn it in with the homework papers.

Turning in Papers I will come by and pick up your homework assignments or any other assignments needed to be turned in This way I can check and see if your homework is completed and give out pink slips accordingly Any in class work should be turned into the drawer by my desk.

When you are tardy . . . Have a seat and take out Enter quietly. Excused: Place excuse in the basket by the door Unexcused: Sign the tardy list located by the door Have a seat and take out your materials.

Bathroom Pass One bathroom pass… therefore one person can leave the classroom at a time to use the restroom Sign out on the bathroom pass form near the door so if there is any kind of emergency I know of your whereabouts

Class Dismissal Do not start packing up prior to the bell. My goal is to give you the last three minutes of every class to pack-up, ask questions, or quietly talk to friends Once I say “have a nice day” you are free to gather your things YOU MUST BE IN A SEAT UNTIL THE BELL RINGS

So what did we do yesterday? Go to Miss Fox’s website www.Foxenglish3.weebly.com Go to the “Sick Work” tab to see what you missed IMPORTANT: You have TWO days to make-up missed work. If you do not make-up the work within the two days you will get behind in both class work and homework assignments which will dramatically effect your grade. You have many resources to assist you so jump on it!

I truly believe in your potential and I know that you have the ability to succeed! Get ready for an awesome year! – Miss Fox
