Introducing NECAs Basic Foremanship

2 Learning Objectives Following this webinar you will be able to: –Explain the focus, goals, and audience of NECAs Basic Foremanship course –Discuss the structure of the course –List the main topics addressed in the course –Discuss the qualifications required for instructors –Describe the process for hosting a course –Identify where to obtain more information

3 Course Focus, Goals, and Audience This course strives to: –Introduce the role of the foreman –Explain how the foremans role is different from that of a craft worker –Help the participant apply basic tools and skills to be a more effective foreman This course is not intended as a replacement to the Electrical Project Supervision program –EPS is a more advanced supervisory training program and is not designed for entry level foremen

4 Course Focus, Goals, and Audience Target audience: –Working or dedicated foremen –Foremen in smaller companies or in rural areas –Foremen with little or no formal training –Entry level foremen –Journeymen aspiring to be a foreman

5 Course Structure Fifteen modules, each on a different topic –Participants review an online module and then participate in an in-seat discussion The online component of each module is minutes long Each in-seat session should be minutes long –Modules can be hosted individually or grouped together For each module participants: –Review the online module –Complete the online quiz –Attend the learning group session –Receive a Field Assignment There are two components to this course: –The online modules –The Facilitators Guide

7 Instructors There is no formal train-the-trainer for this course Instructors must: –Have experience being in a foreman role –Be experienced facilitators who are comfortable leading a group in discussion –Be comfortable with the topics presented in the class and have examples and stories to share from their own work –Prepare: Go though all of the online modules before leading a learning group Thoroughly review the entire Facilitators Guide before the first learning group session –Complete and submit the Facilitators Evaluation after every Basic Foremanship class

8 Process for Hosting a Course 1.The course sponsor decides to host a course for a local audience 2.Select a local instructor and purchase the Facilitators Guide 3.Determine course dates and schedule 4.Set up registration 5.Arrange for access to the online course 6.Hold the course 7.Submit the course records
