Present Progressive!!!

Why is it used? Used to talk about what is happening right now. Many times it is used in Spanish when in English we would use –ing.

How is it formed? ESTAR + Present Participle Estoy Estamos Present Estás Estáis + Participle Está Están

What is a Present Participle? This is formed using a VERB This is the -ing verb. I am eating. You are swimming. We are singing.

How is the Present Participle formed in Spanish? AR verbs 1)Take off –ar 2) add ando ER/IR verbs 1) Take off –er/ -ir 2) add iendo

Forming the Present Participle… Hablar 1) Take off –ar habl 2) Add ando hablando Comer 1) Take off –ercom 2) Add iendocomiendo

Exceptions! If the stem ends in a vowel: -iendo changes to –yendo (leer) If the verb is a stem-changing: O – UE changes to O-U (dormir) E - IE changes to E-I (sentir) E-I stays E-I (decir) Poder y Ir Pudiendo yendo
