Basic Math Syllabus

Course Description cover the Number Power books 1 & 2 there will be classwork & homework for each chapter there will be a quiz

Classroom Rules Respect the teacher Respect your fellow students Treat all El Monte Rosemead Adult School property with respect Follow all school rules as outlined in the student handbook Do not Cheat

Grading A+ 100-97% B- 82.9-80% A 96.9-93% C+ 79.9-77% A- 92.9-90% NC 69.9-0%

Weighted There are six factors used in figuring the student grade. They are weighted as follows: Attendance 10% Homework 20% Participation 10% Quizzes 40% Classwork 20%

Attendance attend every class session for the full 2 hours if you can’t attend you must notify the teacher if you class you must ask for all work that you missed students will be dropped after three absences.

Procedures Arrival Be on time Come quietly into the classroom & sign in - Note the time that you arrive Turn in homework Take your seat Consult schedule board for what to do next

Procedures Exit When the time comes to end the class, please keep working until I dismiss you. Place any finished homework & class work onto my desk for grading Sign out & have a wonderful day.

Procedures Questions If you have a question, please raise your hand & quietly wait for me to acknowledge you. If I am working with another student, please wait until I have finished before you begin asking your question.

Procedures Late Assignments Late homework assignments will be accepted but with a 10% deduction for everyday it is late Late quizzes & tests will not be given (unless you have a doctor’s note or letter from court) No Name on Assignment If you forget your name on an assignment, quiz, or test you will have 5% deducted from your grade

Procedures Eating and Drinking There will be No food or drink (other than water) in the classroom. If you need a drink or something to eat during class, you may consume it in the hall. Clean your hands. Then return to class & continue working. (this may make it so you lose some participation points)

Procedures Restroom When you need to go to the restroom, quietly stand up and go. Come back in quietly & continue working. Testing During Testing all books & papers must be on the floor, as well as all cell phones.

Procedures Cell phone Place your cell phone on vibrate or silence before you come into the classroom. If you must answer your phone during class do so outside of the room. Finish the call quickly & return to class. There will be no texting in class.

Procedures In case of an Emergency Fire If the bell should sound the fire alarm, leave your desk immediately and move to our safety zone. Find me in our safety Zone and check in so I know you are safe. Then you may leave to check on friends and family. Earthquake Duck under your desk and hold onto the legs of the table. When the shaking has stopped, check to see if it is safe to come out from under your desk. Leave the room in a safe manner. Move to our safety Zone. Check in with me at our Safety Zone. Then you may leave to check in with friends and family. Lockdown If a lockdown is announced, close the blinds and spread out in the classroom away from the windows and doors. I will lock the door, turn off the lights and no one will be let out or in during the lockdown time. Please remain completely silent until the lockdown is over. If you find yourself outside of the classroom during a lockdown, leave campus but call the classroom (626) 258-5800 to let me know you are safe.

Procedures Personal Emergency If you have a personal emergency during class (either with yourself or family or friends), let me know and I will give you the assignments for the day and give you an excused absence.

Course Policies Academic honesty The instructor who determines that a student has cheated my give the student a failing grade for the assignment or for the course, or may drop the student from the course.

Course Policies Dress Code Dress to respect others. As a student at EMRAS you will be expected to dress and act in an adult appropriate manner. Please respect your instructors and other students.
