1 Welcome to Computer Technology!
I am Ms. Becker. Review results of Pre-Test! What do you remember?

2 Classroom Procedures Read and follow instructions on the back board.
Walk quietly to your assigned computer and sit down. Log in to your computer and go to teacher web site then READ and follow instructions. Type Do Nows daily using Word on your computer. Save your Do Nows on your H Drive in your 8th Grade Computer Technology folder. There will be a pop quiz on your Do Nows at the end of the 6 weeks. This will be a part of your daily work grade.

3 Classroom Procedures (Continued)
Signaling for quiet and attention will be done by the teacher saying “Ladies and gentlemen, let me have your attention.” At that time, everyone will stop talking and look at the teacher. All papers will be turned in to the wire box on the table. Keep all other work in your folder. Always write your first and last name, the current date, and the class period on all class work. Use the restroom before coming into the classroom. Otherwise, use the sign out sheet on my desk ~ you only get one sign out each 6 weeks! Bring pencil and paper every day or keep it in your folder.

4 Computer Lab Procedures
Ensure all computer equipment is in place and no damage has occurred to any of the equipment since the previous period. There should be a keyboard, mouse, mouse pad, CPU, monitor, and speakers. If you find something missing or broken, notify the teacher immediately by raising your hand. No gum, candy, drink or food will be consumed around the computers. Do your part to keep the computer lab clean and complete! **REMEMBER: The technology equipment is expensive so you must use it properly and be responsible for keeping it clean and in good order.

5 Computer Lab Procedures (Continued)
Log ONLY YOURSELF on the computer. Remain in your seat at the computer. If you need to get up, raise your hand and get permission. Remember: Do not leave your computer without permission!! If you need help during a computer activity, ask a neighbor. If you still need help, raise your hand and wait to be assisted by the teacher. **READING is a very important part of Computer Technology. It a basic skill needed for school and daily life. Reading is the KEY to YOUR SUCCESS in this class.

6 Clean Up Procedures About 2 minutes prior to the end of class, the teacher will ask you to stop work and begin clean up procedures. At that time: SAVE your work on the “H” drive. Exit out of all programs. Log off. Ensure computer mouse and keyboard are in front of your monitor in a neat, orderly fashion. Clean up your work area. The computers will not be turned off. At the end of the class, each student will click Start, Log Off to return the computer to the “log in” window.

7 Clean Up Procedures (Continued)
Return your folder to your class box and wait quietly at your computer until dismissed to your next class by the teacher. When dismissed, push in your chair and quietly depart the computer lab. Remember: Once class is over, remain in your seats and wait to be dismissed by the teacher. Exit the classroom quietly and orderly. Have a GREAT day!

8 Rules Be respectful: respect the teacher, respect other students and respect yourself! Respect school property, especially our computers. Raise your hand for permission to talk. There are four times when you CANNOT talk: 1) When the teacher is talking; 2) When another student is commenting or asking a question; 3) When taking a test or quiz; 4) During announcements. Follow instructions the first time they are given. Raise your hand for permission to get out of your seat.

9 Consequences Students who do not follow the rules or instructions will first receive a warning. The second time (in one day) the student receives a warning, the teacher will talk one on one with the student, ensuring the student understands the rules. The third warning (in the same day) the student will receive a referral to the administrator and his/her parents notified. The “severe clause” is when a serious incident happens; the student may go directly to the administrator. The teacher is the decision maker.

10 Grading Do your BEST every day!
