Dual Enrollment Info Night * Subject to change based on legislative action

WHAT IS Dual Enrollment? Georgia’s dual enrollment program allows high school students (9th-12th grade) to earn both high school and college credit while working on their high school diploma. The goal is to increase college access and completion, and prepare students to enter the workforce with the skills they need to succeed.

WHERE CAN I ATTEND? A student may apply to attend any public college, private college, or technical college.

WHAT ABOUT TRANSFER CREDIT? It is the student’s responsibility to talk with colleges regarding their policies on Dual Enrollment credit. Generally, public colleges in the state of Georgia will honor any credit earned at any other Georgia public college when a grade of “C” or better is earned. Private colleges and out of state colleges vary on their acceptance of Dual Enrollment credit.

HOW DOES GRADING WORK? If the student fails a class, it could jeopardize graduation! No points are added to the final grade (exception – 10 pts. are added to Georgia Tech –Linear Algebra). All Dual Enrollment classes are included on the high school transcript. If colleges provide the high school with letter grades, the high school will transcribe the letter grade to the midpoint of the grading scale. A = 95 B = 85 C = 77 D = 72 F = 55

GRADE CONVERSON ► 1 - 2 semester hour college classes = .5 HS credit.

WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS? Introduces students to college level coursework. Earning college credits while still in high school may enable students to graduate early and/or possibly earn an associate degree, diploma or certificate. CONS Students must keep up with important Junior/Senior High School information. Many colleges prefer a different curriculum path (i.e. AP classes). Colleges will not communicate with parents of Dual Enrollment students.

WHAT IS COVERED? Tuition Mandatory Fees Books Transcript Course Specific Fees may not be waived. Student is responsible for tuition and fees for any course taken that is not on the approved Dual Enrollment Course Directory.

It is YOUR responsibility!
