2. Benefits to MOWR
Students earn high school and college credit simultaneously!

3. Academic Requirements
BCHS’s requirements for dual credit to be awarded:
Minimum academic GPA of 3.25 for Bachelor Programs and 2.5 for Diploma and Certificate Programs
Eligible testing score
SAT – Critical Reading score of 480, Math score of 440, and Minimum Combined Score on the Critical Reading and Math sections only of 970
Redesigned SAT: 26 Reading and 480 Math. These scores converted to the old SAT equivalents must be, at a minimum, 970 OR
ACT – English score of 20, Math score of 18, and Composite score of 20.
Accuplacer – varies based on program of study and institution
Each college can also make their own requirements which may be more rigorous

4. Eligibility:
Be enrolled in the ninth, tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade of a public or private school in Georgia
Be admitted to an eligible, participating USG, TCSG or Private postsecondary institution as a dual credit enrollment student
Maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by the eligible postsecondary institution
Summer sessions available with the exception of the summer prior to ninth grade and the summer after your high school graduation.
Students have four school years of MOWR eligibility

5. Participation Requirements
Students must be enrolled in a minimum of three units between the high school and post-secondary institution
3 semester hours at the college, equals 1 unit of high school credit
Students choosing to be a full-time MOWR participant must take at least 4 college courses AND 12 semester hours
Courses can be taken beyond the regular school hours and/or through virtual courses.
Degree and non-degree level courses in core, career, technical, and agriculture are permitted but must be on the MOWR Approved Course Directory as found on

6. General Information
Only core, degree level work through MOWR receives .5 weights and counts as rigor for HOPE eligibility.
The high school awards a 10 point weight up to 110 for passing MOWR classes
There are no MOWR course equivalents of Algebra II
All students must take the EOC test associated with Lit Comp 9, Algebra I, Geometry, and Biology
Students enrolled in MOWR for American Lit, Physical Science, US History and Economics do not have to take associated EOC test.

7. Extra-Curricular Activities
Students are allowed to participate in high school competitive and other extracurricular events. They must pass 3 units of credit the semester prior to participation and be on track for graduation to be eligible as required by the GA High School Association and Rule Competitive Interscholastic Activities Grades 6-12.
Conflicts with class requirements and scheduling could prevent the student from being able to participate.

8. Expenses
MOWR will pay the standard tuition rate for bachelor's degree courses at public and technical institutions.  
Many colleges waive all mandatory fees for MOWR students. MOWR will pay for your books which amounts to about $100-$150 per course.
You will pay any course-specific fees, such as lab fees.
The credit hours for which you receive MOWR funding will not be included in the HOPE scholarship combined paid-hours limit.

9. Impact on Graduation
Students’ high school graduation could be affected by course incompletion, and/or failure.
Students must notify the high school if their enrollment status changes at any time at the eligible postsecondary institution. If a student withdrawals from a course they must return to the high school and take an equivalent course. Failure to do so would result in an F on your transcript.
Upon completion of the courses, the student shall be responsible for requesting an official transcript be sent to the high school.

10. MOWR Procedures Meet academic average and test score requirements
Submit an application for admissions to the post-secondary institution of choice:
Include your high school transcript which has your test scores
Include proof of lawful presence (examples: copy of driver’s license, US passport, or certified copy of birth certificate)
Include MOWR Student Participation Agreement Form (receive after individual meeting with Mrs. Loggins)
After college acceptance, meet with dual enrollment coordinator at the post-secondary institution to register for classes.
Bring Mrs. Loggins a copy of your college schedule so your high school schedule may be modified.
