Basic Functions and Features Volume Control Camera (Back) Power Switch microSD Camera (Front) Headphone Jack Basic functions <create rollovers or clickables to describe each one> Power : To turn your tablet on, press and hold down the Power button until the device name appears onscreen. To turn the tablet off , press and hold the Power button until device options appear. Tap Power off, tap OK. Volume Press to adjust volume. Camera Your tablet has one rear-facing and one forward-facing camera. Charge Plug the cable into this port to charge your tablet. Headphone Jack Plug headphones into this port. microSD The tablet supports microSD cards for additional storage. Charging Port Basics Basic Functions and Features

Bluetooth Connect Button Tablet Stand Charging Port Keyboard The keyboard and the tablet are two separate devices. The keyboard must be charged and turned on separately from the tablet. Charging or powering on the tablet does not automatically charge or power on the keyboard. Your tablet can be placed vertically or horizontally in the black slot so you can see the screen while using the keyboard. Bluetooth Connect Button Power Switch Navigation Bluetooth Keyboard

Touchscreen and Face Buttons Get Apps Web Browser App Library <more clickable items. Insert screenshot of actual home screen, with as blank a background as possible> Touchscreen Your tablet has a touchscreen. You can access various features and functions by lightly touching the icons. Menu button Tap this to bring up additional options and features regarding what is on the screen. Home Tap this to return to the home screen. Back Tap this to return to the previous screen. Settings Icon Tap this to set up wi-fi, passwords, volume, and other options for your tablet. Apps Apps is short for applications, which are small programs. Tapping this will bring up a page of apps. You may need to scroll through pages if you have a lot of apps on your tablet. Internet This will bring up a web browser. You can also do a Google search using the search bar or voice search option on the home screen. Google Play Store Search here for free and paid Android apps to put on your tablet. You will need to create a Google account to get apps. Basic Settings eBooks Navigation Settings Main Menu Tablet Settings Touch the Settings icon to: 1. Change your display settings to prevent premature sleep mode 2. Connect to WiFi 3. Set up Bluetooth pairing of the keyboard with your device Settings Main Menu

Settings Display Screen Timeout Display settings To change display settings: Tap Settings, and then Display➔ Screen Timeout➔ Change to 30 minutes This will keep your screen from going dark for 30 minutes. Settings Display

Settings Wi-Fi On/Off Switch Wi-Fi settings To turn on your wireless adaptor and connect to a wireless network: Tap Settings, and then Wi-Fi. Tap the wi-fi switch if you need to turn it on. <insert some sort of marker to show the switch> Tap the network name and then enter password if necessary. Tap Connect. You can connect to a wireless network at home, school, work, or public wi-fi location such as a coffee shop. Settings Wi-Fi

Settings Bluetooth On/Off Switch Connect a Device Turn on Bluetooth to connect your tablet with your keyboard: Make sure your keyboard is charged and turned on. Tap Settings, and then Bluetooth on the tablet. Tap the Bluetooth switch if you need to turn it on <insert some sort of marker to show the switch> Tap the checkbox next to your device name to enable discovery mode. Tap Scan for devices on the Galaxy Tab. Tap the Bluetooth device from the list of scanned devices, and then follow the prompts to complete the pairing. Settings Bluetooth

Lock Screen and Password Change Screen Lock Security Set a password or pattern to prevent unauthorized access to your tablet. Tap Settings, and then scroll down and tap Lock Screen. Tap Screen Lock. Tap Password, Pin, or Pattern and enter your chosen lock method. Confirm your password, pin or pattern, and make sure you record it somewhere in case you forget. If your screen times out (goes black), you’ll have to enter this password to access it again. Settings Lock Screen and Password

Settings Security App Security App For added security, you can go to the Google Play store and download the free Lookout Security app. The app provides antivirus protection as well as tools to help you find or wipe your tablet if it’s ever stolen. Settings Security App

eBooks Blackboard Log In Here Click Tools Use a computer to access Blackboard before trying to use eBooks on your tablet. To access Blackboard: Go to online.pmi.edu Type in your username and password. Username is first initial of your last name, plus your birth month and last 3 digits of your social security number (e.g. jsmith1234) Password is your 8-digit birthdate (July 15, 1973 would be 07151973) Click on a course to go into it and access the book. eBooks Blackboard

Click My Bookshelf eTextbooks Click Bookshelf Once inside the course, you can access the book for that course. Click Tools Click Bookshelf Click My Bookshelf eTextbooks. This will bring up the books on your “shelf.” eBooks Blackboard

eBooks Blackboard Accept Terms Click a Book Title Create VitalSource account. Use your My PMI email address and 8-digit birthdate for password. After you have created and completed your VitalSource account you will not be required to follow this process again for any other course! Register eBooks Blackboard

eBooks VitalSource App After completing your account you can view your book! You can easily access the chapters within the book using the menu. eBooks VitalSource App

eBooks VitalSource App Tap Play Store To view eBooks on your tablet you’ll need to create a Google Play Store account and download the VitalSource Bookshelf App. Start by launching the Play Store. eBooks VitalSource App

Tap to Sync With Your My PMI Account Google Account Tap“Existing” to sync with your My PMI email account, using your My PMI email and 8 digit birthdate password. eBooks Google Account

eBooks VitalSource App Search VitalSource Tap to Install VitalSource Bookshelf App After you finish completing your Google account you can access the Play Store. Search the Google Play store for the free Vital Source App. Tap Install, then Accept and Continue. Once the app has finished downloading, return to your home screen and look for the Vital Source App. Note: You can search for and download other apps from the Google Play store using the same process. eBooks VitalSource App

eBooks VitalSource App Launch Bookshelf Open App Library After you have downloaded the app it will appear on your home screen. If the Bookshelf app is not on your home screen tap Apps to view your app library. Tap on the Bookshelf icon to launch the app. Log in using the same username and password when you created your VitalSource account. eBooks VitalSource App

Refresh/Logout Button Tap a Book to Download Book Download You can now access and download books directly onto your tablet. This allows you to be able to access them through the app instead of having to log in to Blackboard first. Tap on a book to download it. Doing this allows you to access your eBooks on your tablet without needing a Wi-Fi connection! The curly arrow symbol – top left of the tablet screen – is for refreshing the booklist or logging out. So if you click through to a new text in Blackboard, you can simply then hit the refresh button in the app and the app will prompt you to download the newly acquired text. eBooks VitalSource App

eBooks Download Tap Download Tap download to complete the download process and you will be able to access your book! eBooks Download
