Welcome! Please listen carefully Follow Directions Respect those around you

Today you will… Learn about your graduation requirements Receive your programming sheet Choose your academic classes for 10th grade Choose 8 electives Receive a deadline for the programming form

Graduation Requirements 4 English 4 Math-include Algebra I + Geometry 3 Science- must include Biology 3 Social Studies- must include World History, US History, Economics, + US Government 1 Practical or Performing Art 1 H.O.P.E. (Health + Physical Education) 1 Online Class 2 Foreign Language (College Bound Students) 8 Electives Reading courses will be scheduled as needed Students will be placed in appropriate academic courses to ensure academic success.

Let’s get started… Everyone should have a: - Programming Sheet - Pen or Pencil If you do not have this, please raise your hand!! ** Make sure your name, student # and grade level are on the form!**

Schedule Change Policy Schedules will not be changed for the following reasons: Student/parent does not like the teacher To have classes with friends Teacher is ‘too hard’ or ‘too easy’ Teacher does not like a student/parent The teacher gives too much work Student/parent change interest after ‘trying out’ a class Requesting a different lunch Schedule changes will be made automatically for the following reasons: Completion of a summer school course (Florida Virtual/HVS) Incomplete schedule (missing a class); including a missing core class Two courses in the same period in the same semester Failure of a prerequisite course Master schedule conflict; including master schedule changes due to enrollment Dual Enrollment (once approved) Senior needing a graduation requirement To balance classes so that overcrowding does not occur

Language Arts  English 1 Language Arts Adv  English 1 Honors If you are in Language Arts Regular, you will write English 1 and circle Regular. Language Arts  English 1 If you are in Language Arts Adv, you will write English 1 and circle Honors. Language Arts Adv  English 1 Honors

Math If you are in Pre-Algebra, you will write Algebra 1 and circle Regular. Pre-Algebra  Algebra 1 If you are in Algebra 1, you will write Geometry and circle Regular or Honors. Algebra 1  Geometry Regular or Honors

Science If you are in Comprehensive Science Regular or Adv, you will write Biology Regular Physical Science Honors  Biology Regular If you are in Physical Science, you will write Biology Regular or Honors Physical Science Honors  Biology Regular or Honors

Social Studies If you are in U.S. History Regular, you will write U.S. Government and circle Regular. U.S. History  U.S. Government If you are in U.S. History Adv, you will write U.S. Government and circle Honors. U.S. History Adv  U.S. Government Honors OR AP Human Geography (does not count towards U.S. Government Credit)

Electives You must list 8 electives- please write neatly!! Make sure you choose (2) semester electives- these classes are indicated with a *. Suggestions… HOPE- get it out of the way! Begin/Continue your Foreign Language requirement Begin a technical program

Important notes… This is YOUR opportunity to choose your classes for 9th grade!! Think carefully…we all know schedule changes are hard to come by. You must turn in the form with signatures from both your teachers and parents.

What’s next… Make sure that all blanks are filled in. Sign your programming sheet. Get your teacher’s signature/ approval for core classes. Get your parent’s signature. Turn in your completed programming sheet.
