Reminder- Spelling Test 3.1 on Friday! Practice your words each night! Reading: This week we will continue discussing characteristics of both fiction and non-fiction stories. We will take our first assessment where students will read a story, and write the beginning, middle, and ending of the story. Math: This week in Math we begin working in Unit 2. We will practice counting up and back on the number grid, discuss different uses of numbers, review plus 0 and plus 1 addition facts, review complements of 10, and practice open response questions. Writing: We are beginning to write small moment stories and reading our stories to our friends. We are going to begin to read our stories as we would read a book. We are also working on being good partners and helping our partner’s stories come alive. Fundations/Spelling: We will begin working in Unit 3. We will learn all about digraphs. Digraphs are “wh, th, sh, ch, and ck”. Your child will also receive their first spelling list with words with digraphs. Please practice at home each night. Notes & Reminders Tip of the Week! Math: Create simple number stories with your child involving addition and subtraction. Reading: Be a digraph detective! When your child is reading a good fit book, have them find digraphs in words- “ch, sh, th, wh, ck Specials Monday – Day 2: Music Tuesday – Day 3: Computer Lab Wednesday – Day 4: P.E. Thursday – Day 5: Library Friday – Day 6: Art Important Note: Please have your child practice writing their first and last name at home. Remember to have them capitalize the first letter only in first and last name.
