A Peek At The Week
-In reading we are continuing to switch to our leveled reading groups. Students should be bringing home daily reading homework.
-During math we will continue to work on the concept of subtraction. We will also identify one-less and zero-less of any given number. Students will continue their work on doubles and counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s during station time.
-Writing time will be used on writing a story about a place that is special to us. Students will write a draft and then we will practice adding more details in our writing and illustrations. Students will also be introduced to new writing stations this week!
-Our Core Knowledge time will continue with Social Studies this week with our new unit on Early World Civilizations. We will discuss the people of Mesopotamia and what it was like for them back then. Homework Ideas
-Please take time to read with your child every night for minutes.
-Continue work on the number bond sprints that come home each day.

Looking Ahead
-October 11th: MSA meeting #2 (Learning Lab, 6:00pm)
-October 13th: End of Quarter #1
-No School on Friday, October 14th.
-United Ways Penny Wars October 3rd-21st. First grade will work together to gain the most weight in our jar of money collected.
-October 17-21st is Spirit Week for the United Way.
-Report Cards go home October 19th, next Wednesday.
