Rule #3 Follow directions the first time they are given. If you are not sure or confused what to do, ASK!!

Rule #4 Treat each person in this room with Respect. Each day make sure you are showing me the 3 R’s: Respect Responsible Ready

Rule #5 Follow all procedures and policies that are in the Ralston Handbook

Entering the Classroom Please enter quietly Have a seat and put materials away Review the agenda for the day Begin D.M.A. Put notes and assignment notebook on corner of your desk

Special Miss Sommers’ Rule This classroom is a “No Whining Zone”. That means that there will be no whining, for ANY reason. Everything that I do is in your best interest, so please…respect the “No Whining Zone” this school year.

Severe Rule Any student who uses inappropriate language, fights, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other students), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY.

Getting your Attention I will: Stand in front of the class Raise my hand Wait for everyone to be quiet Then I will begin speaking

Student Responsibility Card This is for students who do not have the assigned homework Fill out Yellow Slip Sign and date it Parent must sign the yellow slip Return the form the next day

Finishing Classwork Early You think to yourself, “What do I do next?”

What Do I Do Next? Activities Work on unfinished assignments Read silently Work on your morning D.M.A. Review Spelling words for the week Study for upcoming tests

Moving around the room You must ask permission Do not ask during a classroom discussion unless it is an emergency We DO NOT run at anytime in the room When out of your seat, you are NOT to touch other classmates belongings or materials.

End of Day Review Go over Assignment board together as a class of all assignments from the day Circle in assignment notebook, assignments you need to finish for homework Make sure you have all the materials you need to complete the work Remind Parents to sign your assignment notebook AFTER they see you completed your homework Wait until I dismiss you from the classroom

Graded Papers Graded papers will come home at the end of each week. Each student’s “Mail” (graded papers) will be put in their mailbox throughout the week and we have “Mail Pick-Up” before going home at the end of each week.

Always Remember… You can't hit a home run unless you step up to the plate. You can't catch a fish unless you put your line in the water. You can't reach your goals if you don't try. Kathy Seligman I truly believe each one of you will do great this year in 5th grade! I am so happy and proud to have each and everyone of you in my class this year. Miss Sommers
