Diabetes What I already know. What I want to know. My growth as a researcher Works Cited.

What I already know! it is a long term disease that disrupts the body’s ability to use a sugar called glucose. Two of the most common forms are type one and type two. Insulin is a hormone that helps bring glucose from the bloodstream into cells.

What I want to know! What causes diabetes? How does it affect the body? Can it cause you children to have birth defects? Who does it affect?

What causes diabetes ? diabetes occurs when the body’s own immune system misguidedly attacks and destroys certain cells in the pancreas

How does it affect the body?? diabetes is the leading cause of blindness, kidney failure, and lower limb amputation in adults Diabetes changes the way you live and eat everyday.

Can diabetes cause your children to have birth defects? According to researchers, there is a huge risk of a baby having birth defects if the mother has diabetes during or before pregnancies From 1996 to 2008, about 401,149 pregnancies were analyzed by researchers and it was seen that 1,677 women that had diabetes, had children with birth defects

Who does It affect? Of the 25.6 million adults with diabetes in the United States in 2010, 12.6 million were women Diabetes can run in families Type 1 diabetes is usually diagnosed in children, teens, or young adults. Type 2 diabetes is usually diagnosed in adults aged 40 years or older, but it is now becoming more common among children.

My Growth as a researcher I picked diabetes because one of my best friends and my grandpa have diabetes so I already know a little bit about it and I thought if would be something that would keep my interest thought this project. On the first day we learned what plagiarism is. We learned that power library is a great place to get your information because it is all accurate information. We found all of our information and out it into a presentation
