Arthritis

About Arthritis Arthritis is inflammation of one or more joints, causing pain and stiffness that can worsen with age. Many people with arthritis notice their symptoms are worst in the morning There are more than 100 types of arthritis the two most common would be osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). most commonly seen in adults over the age of 65, but it can also develop in children, teens, and younger adults. Arthritis is more common in women than men and in those who are overweight.

Symptoms pain, swelling, reduced range of motion, and stiffness. you may feel tired or experience a loss of appetite due to the inflammation that immune system activity causes. Your range of motion may also decrease, and you may experience redness of the skin around the joint.

Pain areas in the ankle, back, fingers, hands, heel, joints, muscles, neck, or wrist. Pain types: can be intermittent or sharp Pain circumstances: can occur while sitting. Hand: bump on the finger or bony outgrowth in fingers or toes Muscular: muscle weakness or decreased range of motion Joints: stiffness, swelling, or tenderness Whole body: fatigue or malaise Also common: acute episodes, limping, physical deformity, redness, or stiff neck

WHAT CAUSES ARTHRITIS? a family history of the disease. It occurs when your body's immune system attacks the tissues of the body. These attacks affect the synovium, a soft tissue in your joints that produces a fluid that nourishes the cartilage and lubricates the joints.

Treatment When you get Arthritis it can not be cured. You can only take medications and control it but you can not get rid of it. Medications, physical therapy, or sometimes surgery helps reduce symptoms and improve quality of life.

Risk FACTORS Age Gender: Arthritis is more common in women; 60% of all people with arthritis are women Genetic Over weight: Excess weight can contribute to both the onset and progression of knee osteoarthritis Joint injures: Damage to a joint can contribute to the development of osteoarthritis in that joint. Infection: Many microbial agents can infect joints and potentially cause the development of various forms of arthritis. Occupation: Certain occupations involving repetitive knee bending and squatting are associated with osteoarthritis of the knee.
