Please make sure you know which room you should be in and which seat. Your exam timetable will indicate your room, seat and candidate number.  Please make sure you know which room you should be in and which seat. You will waste a lot of everyone’s time if you don’t.

You have two copies of your examination timetable. You should keep one in your pencil case, which must have nothing written on it Your parents will also be emailed an electronic copy of your timetable.

Up until study leave, register with your form tutor as usual at 8 Up until study leave, register with your form tutor as usual at 8.45am every morning.

Before study leave, for all morning exams, go straight to your exam room as soon as you have registered (8.50am).

Once study leave has started you no longer need to register with your form tutor. During this period, for all morning exams, be outside your exam room at 8.45am.

For all afternoon exams, you must be outside the exam room by 1 For all afternoon exams, you must be outside the exam room by 1.15pm at the latest.

For all exams all bags, coats and any other belongings should be left in the pavilion study area. Do not bring them to the exam room. We cannot guarantee the safety of your belongings: please bring nothing valuable.

Do not bring your iPod, mobile phone, smart watch or any other electronic communication device into any examination. In the past GCSE and A level candidates at this school have had their papers cancelled by the exam board because they have been found with a mobile, even though it was in their pocket and switched off.

Turn off all watch alarms and hour reminders, take off your watch and put it on your exam desk. Students using graphical calculators or powerful scientific calculators must clear the calculator memory – this may be checked.

Use the toilet before every exam you take. Toilet visits are a particular concern in terms of the risk of students attempting to gain unfair advantage You will have to be accompanied if you need to go to the toilet during an exam. Your visit will be recorded in case of later evidence of malpractice. You may be asked to demonstrate that you have nothing in your pockets etc.

Malpractice Be very careful to do nothing which is against the rules Anything that could give you even the slightest unfair advantage is malpractice Have nothing written on your hands; not even your candidate number Have no notes in your pocket or on your person There will be spot checks involving a random sample of students

There must be total silence at all times in the examination room There must be total silence at all times in the examination room. You should not communicate in any way with any other candidates – even by gesture or eye contact.

Leaving the examination Please be aware that you will be sitting examinations with other students whose papers may last longer than yours. When dismissed, please leave in total silence.

Full correct school uniform/ dress code must be worn.

Do not write anything on your paper until you are invited to do so.

No food is to be consumed during an exam. Small bottles of water will be permitted but the label must be removed from the bottle and the bottle kept on the floor.

Have the correct equipment. It will be too late to buy it immediately before an examination. Black pens, sharpened HB pencils, rubbers, rulers, calculators and a clean copy of your examination timetable should be in a clear pencil case or plastic bag. Calculator lids must not be taken into the examination room.

Do not rely on school to lend out any calculators, rulers or other equipment. Also, remember it may not be be possible to buy equipment on the morning of the examination.

If there is a problem in the examination: You think you may have the wrong paper… Something is putting you off… You aren’t clear how much time you have left… Please ask an invigilator

If you are ill, you or your parents/ carers should phone Mrs Cotton or Mrs Jenkins on the normal school phone number as soon as possible before the start of your examination.
