Graduation Requirements* Completion of a minimum of 22 credits 4 credits ENGLISH 3.5 credits SOCIAL STUDIES 3 credits MATHEMATICS 3 credits SCIENCE 0.5 credit PE 0.5 credit HEALTH 7.5 credits ELECTIVES (1.0 credit to be FINE ARTS) *Colleges may have additional requirements (ie: 2 years of a World Language, 4 years of Math, etc.)

10TH GRADE COURSES – see flow charts English (full year) Social Studies (full year - U.S. History) Math (full year) Science (full year - Biology) Health (1 semester) College Seminar/Reading & Writing (full year) - if currently in 9th grade Seminar/Foundations course Electives (PE, fine arts, world language, etc…)

If you want to take a class that is not the next in line on the flowchart, you must talk to your current English teacher first. If you want to take an English elective (like mythology or acting) in addition to your year-long 10th grade English class, you may do so.

There are two choices- AP US History or US History. The largest difference between US History and AP US History two is the required amount of reading and writing. Discuss with your 9th grade Social Studies and English teachers whether AP is a good fit for you.

Students in Advanced Phys. Sci with A- or better should take AP Biol All other advance phys. sci. and regular phys. sci. students with C or better should sign up for ARCC Biol Students with low tests score (less than 60%) should take regular biology

Electives Art Business Education Career Education Family & Consumer Sciences Music Physical Education & Health Technology Education World Language 916 Program There are also elective options in math, science, social studies and language arts Art 1 is a great place to start! Many of our classes require Art 1 as a prerequisite Not all classes require a pre-requisite. Check the guide If you're interested in taking AP ART, plan on taking Art 1, Painting and Drawing. ALL Foods classes can be taken by anyone in 9 - 12th grade Child Psychology and Development, and Interior Design, are open to 10-12 graders. Students earning a B or better in the class will also receive articulated college credit. Photoshop--Fulfills the fine art credit at Irondale Personal Finance & Accounting should be taken if you are interested in a Business major/minor in college. NEW CLASS: Automotive Technology 2 If you are looking for HANDS ON Classes--This is your place. Students earning a B or better in the class can receive articulated college credit. DECA: Learn about Marketing with Travel to New York, NY, Leadership Conferences, Competition & Internationals in Florida Build Skills in Interviewing, Sales, Resumes, College & Scholarship Applications Project Based learning about Marketing- Promotions and Community Service Opportunities

10TH GRADE COURSES Must register for 6 credits: 6 courses each semester Must enroll in both semesters of a full year course – “A” and “B” Refer to the Registration Guide online for course sequence and prerequisite information

Things to Remember… Make sure you choose 6 classes each semester (year- long classes have an “A” and a “B”) AND make 2 alternative choices (required) Read course descriptions Watch for prerequisites Talk to this year’s teachers for advice on choosing your classes Consider when you plan to complete Fit for Life and Health and Fine Art credit Remember your 4-year plan and your Early College goals

Registration is Final Please make selections carefully Schedule changes will only be made for the following reasons: Failed a course that affects course sequence Need a course to complete graduation requirements Do not have the prerequisites for the course Do not have 12 classes/6 credits

Computer Lab Registration: Friday, February 3rd - during school Students will be called down to the computer alphabetically to enter in their course requests. Bring your registration worksheet with you! Talk to your dean and teachers prior to registration!
