3 Graduation Requirements Completion of a minimum of 22 credits
4 credits ENGLISH 3.5 credits SOCIAL STUDIES 3 credits MATHEMATICS 3 credits SCIENCE 0.5 credit PE 0.5 credit HEALTH 7.5 credits ELECTIVES (1.0 credit to be FINE ARTS) *Colleges may have additional requirements (ie: 2 years of a World Language, 4 years of Math, etc.)

4 Am I eligible to take ARCC courses? Senior Year Requirements:
No W’s or F’s in prior ARCC courses (not on ARCC warning or suspension list) AND meet ONE of the following: In top 50% of class Have a college-ready composite ACT score of 21 or higher Successfully completed all previous ARCC courses Note: College Pre-Calc, College Chemistry, and College Physics have additional requirements – see page 5 in the registration guide. See your dean if you have questions

5 AA Degree Planning If it is your goal to complete the AA degree from Anoka-Ramsey Community College in addition to your high school diploma, it is imperative that you schedule a meeting with your dean ASAP It is important to plan your course registration carefully to meet all requirements of the AA degree

6 12TH GRADE COURSES English (full year/1.0 credit)
Social Studies (0.5 credit minimum) Government and/or Economics (if not previously taken in 9th grade) Math (full year recommended) Science (full year recommended) Electives (Have you completed PE, Health, and Fine Arts?)

7 If you want to take a class that is not the next in line on the flowchart, you must talk to your current English teacher first. If you are taking elective classes, please choose one Composition class and one Literature class.

8 The required course for graduation is Government your choices include: Government and Politics, AP Government and Politics, or AP Comparative Government. If unsure which one to chose talk to your current 11th grade social studies teacher for recommendations. This year is a great opportunity for you to try an AP Social Studies course: a great start if never tried before would be year long AP Psychology to go along with your government requirement. Social Studies also has amazing additional electives including: Pyschology, Semester AP Pyschology, Sociology (with CLEP exam) , Holocaust and Genocide, AP Economics

9 Students should ask about which level of ARCC/AP/CIS courses they qualify for and they should understand the differences between these three options (ARCC, AP, and CIS) Students should understand which math electives fit their needs, including technical and career paths. Deans should explain the differences between AP Statistics and CIS Statistics Students need to know how many math credits they have and which courses (if any) they still need to meet the graduation requirements.

10 Physics has 3 levels to fit everyone
Physics has 3 levels to fit everyone. If you're in calc right now, you can take AP. College physics offers college credit opportunity for those not currently in calc. Regular physics also offers a well-rounded physics course. Colleges like seeing students that take 4 years of science, including physics. There are lots of great science electives: Anatomy, Zoology, Biotechnology, Science in the Arts, Environmental Science

Family & Consumer Sciences Music Physical Education & Health Technology Education World Language 916 Program There are also elective options in math, science, social studies and language arts AP Art is a full year class ALL Foods classes can be taken by anyone in th grade Child Psychology and Development, and Interior Design, are open to graders. Students earning a B or better in the class will also receive articulated college credit. Photoshop--Fulfills the fine art credit at Irondale Personal Finance & Accounting should be taken if you are interested in a Business major/minor in college. NEW CLASS: Automotive Technology 2 If you are looking for HANDS ON Classes--This is your place. Students earning a B or better in the class can receive articulated college credit. Work Experience Program with early release option Planning for life AFTER high school See your Dean for enrollment DECA: Learn about Marketing with Travel to New York, NY, Leadership Conferences, Competition & Internationals in Florida Build Skills in Interviewing, Sales, Resumes, College & Scholarship Applications Project Based learning about Marketing- Promotions and Community Service Opportunities

12 12TH GRADE COURSES Must register for 6 credits:
6 courses each semester Must enroll in both semesters of a full year course – “A” and “B” Refer to the Registration Guide online for course sequence and prerequisite information

Advanced Placement (AP) courses Concurrent Enrollment courses (ARCC & CIS) Hybrid classes Peer Tutor/Office Assistant (Registration forms will be available as you leave today!) Credit Plus 916 program at Century College Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) See your dean for more information on these programs.

14 Things to Remember… Make sure you choose 6 classes each semester (year- long classes have an “A” and a “B”) AND make 2 alternative choices (required) Read course descriptions Watch for prerequisites Talk to this year’s teachers for advice on choosing your classes Consider when you plan to complete Fit for Life and Health and Fine Art credit Remember your 4-year plan in Naviance and your Early College goals

15 Registration is Final Please make selections carefully
Schedule changes will only be made for the following reasons: Failed a course that affects course sequence Need a course to complete graduation requirements Do not have the prerequisites for the course Do not have 12 classes/6 credits

16 Computer Lab Registration:
Friday, February 3rd - during school Students will be called down to the computer alphabetically to enter in their course requests. Bring your registration worksheet with you! Talk to your dean and teachers prior to registration!
