Song Brown Funding agency: Office of Statewide Health Planning & Development Three grants: Capitation & Special Projects Capitation grant Award Amount: $80,000 total for 2 years ($40,000 per year) – 2014-2016 Allowed for 8 total, under-represented minorities, economically disadvantaged students to be in RN program. Supports adjunct instructors, off-set a portion of Simulation Coordinator Capitation grant Award Amount: $40,000 total for 2 years ($20,000 per year) 2015-2017 Allows for 4 total, under-represented minorities, economically disadvantaged students to be in RN program. Special Project grant Award Amount: $85,000 Admit under represented minorities and economically disadvantaged into nursing program and educate them on transfer opportunities and dual enrollment in BSN programs at four year universities Hired two adjunct transfer counselors Written pamphlet developed for students interested in transferring to a BSN program. Nursing Workshops and Information Sessions held for students. 2 - Transfer Fairs –included participation from approximately 11 universities: CSUDH, CSULA, CSULB, CSUF, CSUSM, Vanguard, National, Chamberlain, West Coast, Grand Canyon, Azusa Pacific Concurrent Enrollment: 9 students enrolled concurrently at: CSUDH, CSULA and CSULB *Commended by BRN for having a Transfer Counselor*

Department of Health Services (DHS) Funding agency: DHS, County of Los Angeles Award Amount: $69,000 To improve study skills and enhance the overall learning and success. Program goal is to assist each graduate to seek employment in LA County health facilities. Funded tutors, intersession workshops, Family Night, guest speakers, NCLEX- RN in person review course and other student success strategies. Off-set small portion of Department Chair’s salary This contract renewed for two more years for $76,000 per year.

Remediation and Retention for Associate Degree (RN) Programs Funded by California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office Award Amount: $171,000 To increase nursing student retention/student success for pre-nursing and current nursing students. Funds our Nursing Success Advisor—any student who is not passing theory or clinic are referred to her for early intervention (this is called our Early Alert system) Partially off-set Simulation Technician Off-set a small portion of Director of Nursing’s salary and supported a portion of Project Director’s salary Supported Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) Provided Student Success Workshops & provided supplemental instruction of various topics for students.

Rupe Foundation Funded by Rupe Foundation Award Amount: $45,000 Enhanced Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide Programs Supported Community Outreach Coordinator position Provided students with uniforms and books. Reimbursed students for state exam fees. Provided supplies for program.

H1-B Contract Sub-recipient of Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Board Funding: U.S. Department of Labor H1-B grant Award Amount (2011-2016): $202,154 Provided training for 29 students in Sterile Processing Technician – total: $29,227 LAHC provided training to two cohorts of medical billing students. Total number of students trained: 23; total amount: $81,630 Supported books for medical billing students. Supported trainer’s fee and funding for curriculum development. Funding for a cohort of 11 students to complete CNA/HHA courses. Had a total of 10 students complete Supported salary of one Accounting Technician. Supported a portion of CNA faculty member’s salary for curriculum development. Provided students with uniforms. Reimbursed students for state exam testing Provided supplies for program.

LAH3C Funded by Department of Labor TAACCCT grant Award amount: $976,891 (2013-2017) District-wide, includes all 9 colleges, LATTC is lead college Offered HOC 62, 63, & 64 for first time under LAHC’s sections in Spring 2016 Total Enrolled in HOC courses as of 6/30/2016: 173 Institutionalization component: Offered at Academy Medical Arts on Carson High School campus Spring & Summer 2016 Purchased instructional supplies for Nursing department, Science department (pre-requisite courses) Supported marketing materials for Health Science pathway Purchased defibrillator Computer for CNA office Supports Program Technician’s salary, portion of Office Assistant’s salary, Trainer/Presenter salary and Project Director’s salary.
