A Snapshot from Mrs. King for the week of November 9-13, 2015 aking@bedford.k12.va.us Reading – This week in reading we will begin Unit 7 in superkids. We will practice decoding and teaching CVCe words (consonant vowel consonant/e). For example: kite, cape, tape, hope, sale, robe. Students will also be working in reading group stations for an hour based on their reading level assessed from PALs. Students will practice their spelling and writing daily in superkids and in reading group stations. We will begin Unit 8 of super kids at the end of the week which focuses on –ed and –ing endings to CVCe words. Spelling Test and homework due on Tuesday, November 10th Oh, any, day, good, very, want * Memory and pattern words are in a baggie stapled to student’s behavior folder to study and practice with at home. We also put our memory words in the baggie to play memory at home for practice. Math – This week in math we will be studying 2 dimensional shapes. The shapes students will need to identify are circles, triangles, rectangles and squares. We will be going over in class how many sides, vertices (corners) and right angles each figure has. We will also locate these shapes in real life settings and in pictures. Our test will be on Thursday, November 12th. Homework will go home today in the Monday folders and be due on Friday, Nov. 13. Each night students have one column to complete to review previous math skills. Please help your child complete their homework and if there is something they are struggling with please let me know and I can send home more practice items  Social Studies with Ms. Yeatts: This week we will continue to discuss map skills. Our map assessment will be on Thursday. Important Dates & Information Please check Yellow Behavior Folders each night & initial. McDonalds Night Has Been Postponed! Flu Mists will not be given out this year! November 13- Book Fair preview day! November 16-20 Book Fair Week! November 19- 3rd, 4th and 5th grade performance at 7pm November 25,26,27: NO SCHOOL! Dress Code no spaghetti straps or one strap/one shoulder no exposed undergarments skirts, shorts, and dresses cannot be more than 5 inches above the knee no backless shoes, including flip flops no tops with large armholes no hats or sunglasses Mrs. King’s Resource Schedule: Monday – Music Tuesday Art Wednesday – P.E.
