1. A Snapshot from Mrs. King for the week of January 19-22, 2016
Reading – Students will continue learning and decoding words ending in y, ier, iest, ied and ies. Students will also identify base words in words with endings. Students will recognize and understand memory words and pattern words. Students will also be studying the homophones their and there.
Memory Words: Their, now, always, because, been
Memory words are in baggies in the students behavior folders along with the words to play memory at home.
Superkids Unit 1 & 2 Test on Thursday, January 21st .
Books are being sent home every Monday to read at home. We are also working on these same books during reading group time. Please return the books with their baggie every Monday for a new book.
Students are also completing one hour of reading groups on their reading level. This work is being sent home as a graded packet.
Math – This week in math we will continue studying money. Students will study the amounts for pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. This week we will be working on mixing and counting these coins together. Please go over the homework nightly with students since this is a very hard concept.
Homework #9 is due on Friday, January 22nd. Students are to do one column each night to review previous math skills. Please work with your child on these problems nightly for extra review.
Science w/ Mrs. King:
Students will be learning about hibernation, migration and body coverings this week. We will be discussing in class different animals that hibernate, migrate and what animals do in the winter season. Two main animals we will be discussing is Polar Bears and Penguins. We will have a test on this topic on Tuesday, Jan. 26th.

Monday, February 8th: No School for students; Conferences from 12pm-7pm
Friday, March 11th : End of Quarter 3
Monday, March 14th: No School for students; Teacher Workday!
Friday, March 18th : Report Cards go home; Class Pictures!
The 100th day of school will be on Wednesday, Jan. 27th if we miss no school days! Please work with your child on a project to turn in on this day. The project needs to represent the #100. You may do a poster, shirt, picture, etc. Let your creative juices flow 
