Inspiration

Draft Assessment schedule 2.30 Achievedusing techniques to explore the functional and aesthetic qualities of the design to generate design possibilities Merit Skilfully use visual communication techniques to generate design ideas involves: using techniques to explore in detail the functional and aesthetic qualities of the design to generate divergent design possibilities. Excellence Effectively use visual communication techniques to generate design ideas involves: using techniques to comprehensively explore the functional and aesthetic qualities of the design to reflect on and extend divergent design possibilities

Advanced sketching skills Starting from basic shapes and advancing to more advanced forms Learn to use media to quickly express design intent Thinking through and externalizing all ideas

Different viewpoints

Viewpoints Choosing different viewpoints is all about optimizing shape information The choice of the viewpoint has a big impact on a drawing, so its worth while to make a well considered choice.

Activity multi views

Activity: N to Z

Observation Observation drawing develops the parts of the brain that help us see better. Drawing ability builds self-confidence.

Observational drawings of two products to develop an original third! Generating ideas…..divergent thinking……

Activity

Sketching hints Start with long, thin sketch lines and choose a direction for the light source. Make stronger lines on the shaded side, and of the separate parts Apply shading with a grey marker Apply colour marker (add same colour in pastel chalk) Start big finish with details and highlights

Simple but it’s the details that make it communicate effectively
