3 IGCSE Assessment Objectives
In this project your work must meet each of the 4 AO’s. Remember you will be selecting work from your sketchbook to mount so leave pages free to rip out or blu-tac in sketches etc to remove later. Work can be done separately too. AO2: Research & Analysis Explore the work of at least 2 artists. Analyse techniques, ideas and approaches Apply these to your own ideas. AO1: Record Observations Good quality drawings & photos you have taken yourself. Brainstorm- text and visuals Explore subject matter Different media, viewpoints, ideas Annotate AO3: Develop Ideas Explore different ideas/annotate Develop at least 2 composition ideas Produce detailed studies of elements of your composition Experiment with materials & techniques AO4: Final Piece Select your best idea Ensure your final piece shows strong connections to your observations, research and ideas development. Maximum size A2. Select, collate and mount your presentation work. Up to three A2 sheets for prep work.

4 Mock Exam Timescale Preparation
You have 6 weeks preparation time to complete: AO1 AO2 AO3 Controlled Test A04 You will then sit a controlled test under exam conditions to begin your final piece. You will have a total of 10 hours to complete your final piece. This will be split over 3-4 days in the same week.

5 Mock Exam Preparation Timescale
You have 6 weeks preparation time, the following is a guide: Week 3 & 4: (AO2) Research & Analysis At least 2 artists/genres 5 Good Quality Drawings Week 1 & 2: (AO1) Observations 5 Good Quality Drawings Different viewpoints/ angles Week 5 & 6 : (AO3) Develop Ideas 2 Composition Ideas Experiment With Materials Week 6: Exam Preparation Plan your Final Piece Prepare everything you need

6 IGCSE Fine Art Exam Success Criteria
Produce as much work as you can! Aim for: 5 good observational drawings. (AO1) 5 good drawings analysing the style and techniques of your chosen artist/artists. (AO2) 2 different composition ideas. (AO3) Experiments with different media: paint, pencil crayon, pastel, ink, collage etc. (AO3) 1 final piece of work that is clearly linked to your observational drawings, artist research and development of ideas. (AO4)

Drawings and photos of things that interest you. Elongated shadows Cast shadow Shadow from artificial light Other interpretations Show you can use a variety of media: pencil, pen, charcoal

13 Gather information: Drawings & Photos.
Explore the subject matter, draw from different viewpoints or angles. Use a variety of media - don’t just stick to pencil. Take photos to help finish sketches and develop drawings back in the classroom.

14 Observational Drawing
Outcomes You must produce drawings from a range of viewpoints. You should show understanding of a variety of drawing techniques. You could show accuracy and a clear focus of inquiry. Learning Objectives Develop observational drawing skills. Apply your knowledge of media and processes.

Show you understand the artists style and techniques: Try using similar media, colours and techniques Try similar viewpoints or approaches to composition Show you understand the formal elements of the artworks you study. Use your own subject matter.
