DVC Level 1 Achievement Standards Lesley Pearce, National Facilitator for Technology, Team Solutions, Auckland University l.pearce@auckland.ac.nz www.technologyNZ.wikispaces.com

AS 91064 (1.31) 3 credits external Produce instrumental, multi-view orthographic drawings that communicate technical features of own design ideas Also 3 credits numeracy

Assessment Specifications Use conventions to communicate technical features Students own design ideas From a design brief Third angle orthographic projection Two or more relevant projected views Evidence of projection Evidence of construction

Evidence for Achieved Use of instrumental drawing techniques and conventions 2D drawings must describe technical features of a design Technical features – visible surface features – dimensions – material – scale

Evidence for Merit Measured multi-view instrumental drawings Clearly communicate detail of the technical features of a design (eg features not visible in the main outline, complex shape or form) Conventions applied appropriately e.g. title blocks, labelling, indication of scale, key line types, construction lines/outlines, dimensioning, text

Detail of technical features of a design Not visible in the main outline: Sectional views Auxilary views Hidden detail/drawings internal and external features or components of the design

Evidence for Excellence Produce accurate 2D drawings In-depth information about technical features of a design is shown e.g. sectional views that explain technical features

What is missing to achieve?

Would it achieve? What is missing?

AS 91065 (1.32) 3 credits external Produce instrumental paraline drawings to communicate own design ideas. Also 3 credits numeracy

Assessment Specifications Use instruments and drawing techniques Response to a design brief NO perspective drawings Paraline = isometric, trimetric, dimetric, oblique, planometric

Achievement Evidence 3d instrumental drawing Techniques and conventions used to describe design features Describe includes but not limited to visible surface features, scale

High Achievement

Merit Evidence Accurately produce Clearly communicate details of design ideas Detail - visual information about Internal components (not visible in main outline) Features of a design and/or complex shape and/or form

Low Merit

High Merit

Excellence Evidence Precise drawings – accurate measurement, line, intensity, line clarity Effectively communicate In-depth information – a series of instrumental drawings, e.g. exploded, sequential, cut away 3D view
