Entering the classroom LINE UP AT DOOR and enter the room quietly Get your materials (comp notebooks, book, novel, etc...) Go directly to your seat Begin SAT/stem work immediately

Entering the classroom during class Knock on the door Enter quietly-NO NEED TO TALK Go directly to your seat Get to work immediately

Getting to work immediately Have all your materials  BINDER  ELA TEXT  DGP and TOD  READING BOOK AND JOURNAL  Something to write with Read the assignment on the board Begin working on assignment

Coming to attention Look at the teacher Stop talking Listen for instructions Continue working when instructed GIVE ME FIVE! We will practice this.

Asking a question or participating in class discussions Raise your hand Wait to be called on Ask your question or give your comment succinctly DO NOT stand in front of the teacher or at the teacher’s desk

Getting materials without disturbing others Quietly walk directly to where the materials are located BORROW your materials Return directly to your seat Continue work

Indicating whether you understand Look at the teacher If you don’t understand, raise your hand, wait to be called on, then ask your question

When you are absent You are responsible for missing work You will have 3 days to complete the missing work If you are planning on being absent, notify the teacher ASAP to get the assignments beforehand

End of class dismissal The teacher dismisses the class, not the clock or the bell Push your desk into its table, tidy up your area-use your trashcan Exit quietly Say goodbye to the teacher

When a school-wide announcement or class page is made Stop talking Listen to the announcement Then continue working quietly

When visitors are in the classroom Continue with your work Be polite to the guest, answer questions if asked Maintain work if the teacher is called away If appropriate, engage in conversation with the visitor

If the teacher is out of the classroom Continue with your work Maintain the classroom guideline and procedures

Walking in the hallway during class time Line-up single-file in the classroom Be quiet Proceed out the door, without talking, in a single-file line Listen for instructions while walking in the hallway Walk on the right side of the hallway Wait outside the destination until you have permission to enter

If you are suddenly ill If time, ask the teacher for a pass If no time, go directly to the restroom If you cannot make it to the restroom, please grab the waste basket on your way out Report back when you are done to get a pass to the nurse’s office

Responding to a fire drill Line-up at the door Listen for the teacher’s instructions Exit the room to the right Go down the hallway, past the restroom, proceed down the hallway past the offices When you get outside, go across 19 th street, then wait by the fire hydrant Once across the street, check in with the teacher

CLASS DISRUPTIONS/DISCIPLINE Talking while the teacher is talking EXCESSIVELY talking to other students “Playing” with anything during class Blurting out Trying to make people laugh/laughing at other people Getting off topic Walking around the class unnecessarily

THREE STRIKES AND YOU’RE OUT! Any three disruptions, at any time = home or phone call home OR /phone call AND referral.
