Pronouns Takes the place of a noun or another pronoun Personal-I, you, he, she, it Possessive- yours, mine, ours Reflexive- myself, ourselves Intensive- himself, herself Demonstrative-this, that, these, those Interrogative-who, whom, whose, which, that Relative-that, which, who, whom, whose Indefinite- all, any many, few, some

Adjectives A word that modifies a noun or pronoun by limiting its meaning. Articles Proper Adjectives We went riding in the blue car.

Verbs A word that expresses action or a state of being and is necessary to make a statement. Action Linking-is, are, was, were, forms of be Transitive Intransitive

Adverbs A word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb by making its meaning more specific. We ran to the gym quickly.

Prepositions A word that shows the relationship of a noun or pronoun to some other word in a sentence. The runner fell behind the leaders. The bird flew above the tree.

Conjunctions A word that joins single words or groups of words. Coordinating Correlative Subordinating Fanboys-for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so

Interjections A word or phrase that expresses emotion or exclamation. Ouch! Yes!
