DRAWING/PAINTING Mrs. Baker – Room 112

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  This course will offer an emphasis on the art forms of drawing and painting. Students will explore all of the media encompassing these two-dimensional art forms. This course will meet every day for one full year.  Prerequisite: Art 1 / Foundations of Art

CLASS EXPECTATIONS:  Students will be to class on time and prepared.  All sketches and projects will be turned in on their assigned due dates.  Students will respect the artwork of others in the classroom.  No food or drink is allowed in the art room!  All supplies will be taken care of properly, cleaned, and put away at the end of each class. (Each student will be given their own set of pencils and brushes to use for the duration of the course. Points will be taken off for missing materials and also materials that are not properly cleaned.)  Check Moodle regularly for weekly sketchbook assignments, project due dates, and other materials needed for class.

Sketch of the Week:  Due every Friday by the end of the school day (unless otherwise stated)  Must be completed on provided sketchbook paper and in specified medium.  Must be placed in Sketchbook, on top of previous sketches, and placed in class bin in order to be graded.  Worth 10 points. (Late sketches will not be accepted.)  Sketches are to be completed as homework. (Will not work on sketches during class time unless otherwise stated.)

GRADING:  Students will be given a daily participation grade of a possible two points each class period.  Projects will be graded using an Assessment Rubric.  Students will be asked to write a few reflection questions about their assignments and talk about their artwork during a formal critique when completed.
