The ABC’s of Kindergarten Curriculum Night 2012 Ms. Farah and Mrs. Bailey

A-Attendance- Please send a note to school explaining your child’s absence. Please refer to “Attendance Protocol” guidelines concerning multiple absences. All About Me B-Behavior Management- “Stoplight” behavior chart in our classroom: Green-Great Behavior Yellow- Caution (sits out 5 minutes at recess and note to parents) Red- Stop (sits out 10 minutes at recess and note to parents) Birthdays- Special treats at lunchtime, birthday bag. Behavior Chart- will be sent home daily in take home folder and needs to be initialed and returned each day. “Book in the bag”- Starts after Labor Day

C-Clinic- the Clinic nurse is on duty from 8- 3:30. Conferences- October D-D.E.A.R. - Drop Everything and Read Dismissal- Any changes need to be written and in your child’s buddy folder. Daily Schedule-Changes may occur. E-Envelopes-Money and notes always need to be labeled.

F- Field Trips- Enrichment activities to enhance your child’s learning. Must have signed permission slips. “Fuzzies”- chart for positive reinforcement, given randomly for outstanding behavior and acts of kindness! 5 fuzzies= a trip to our treasure box! Fridays-Always wear your spirit wear! G-Guests-Must register in the office and get a visitor sticker. H-Help Wanted-Always! Healthy Snack daily- Extra snacks and treats always welcomed! Please do not pack snacks in your child’s lunchbox. Handwriting- Zaner-Bloser and always neat!

I-Identify all belongings-Label book bags, lunch boxes, snacks if refridgeration needed. J-Journals- daily writing for all students. (Independent and assigned) K-Kindergarten is Cool!!! L- Library-We will visit the library weekly to check out books. Lunch-Please join us! Our lunchtime is 10:21-10:51 except on early release days or other special days. Student Lunch Prices-$2.15 Milk: $.50 Ice Cream $.60 Adult Lunches-$3.25 Students buying extras—you may send note, ice cream only on Friday. M- Mystery Reader-Will be setting up readers for Fridays. Medicine-Will be in the clinic and given by the nurse.

N-Newsletter-Will be sent home on Mondays and posted on blog. O-Organized- I try to be! P- Parties- Only one party per year is permitted. Positive Discipline and reinforcements- “Fuzzies” PTA- please join. Poetry Folder- Sent home on Fridays beginning after Labor Day. Q- Questions- please feel free to ask them! R-Read at home! - Record in your reading logs beginning after Labor Day. Report cards- Sent home every nine weeks Routine- Important for young children. Rest towel- Please send a towel for rest time each day. We will keep towels in bookbags. Please DO NOT send pillows or large blankets.

S-Sight Words-sight word folders will come home after Labor Day. Snacks- one sent daily, no drinks please, except for water. We will “ cook” on some Fridays—please check the Behavior/Homework Sheet in the take home folder. T- Teachers: P.E. - Mrs. Janas and Coach Devore Music- Mrs. Mason Art- Mrs. Armstrong Guidance- Ms. Sheihk Computer Lab- Ms. Taylor U- Unique- We recognize each child as a unique individual. V- Volunteers- Volunteers are needed in many areas of our school. W- Wish List- Optional and see board. Water Bottles welcome—please make sure it has a sports top and is labeled with name.

X- eXtra special- that’s what each child is to Me! Y- Yellow Bus Tag—The plastic tag and soon to be star should remain on bookbags all year if your child is a busrider. Z-Zaner-Bloser- handwriting program Thank you, Parents! Together, we will make this a great year for your child, from A to Z!!!!!
