2 Meet the Teacher Hi! My name is Tammy Jordan and I am looking forward to being a part of your child’s life during their kindergarten year. This will be my 20th year teaching. My husband, George, and I have two children, Colton (13) and Emma (11). All text can be changed on these slides. Blank slides are included at the end if you need more slides or prefer to have your slides not have the header with the fish and shells at the top.

4 Orange communication folders come home Monday-Thursday. Initial daily.
Behavior Management Orange communication folders come home Monday-Thursday. Initial daily. Do not remove any calendars from the left side of the folder. All other papers need to be left at home. Explain your method of managing behavior. Do you use a clip chart? Card pulling system? Something else? Include a picture if you can!

5 Children will rotate to a variety of literacy stations daily.
Curriculum Children will rotate to a variety of literacy stations daily. Math, Reading, Writing, Handwriting, Science, and Social Studies are a part of the curriculum. All 26 letters will be covered during the first 9- weeks. This includes recognition of letters, learning their sounds, and letter formation. Our Math program uses manipulatives extensively to teach concepts and skills. Explain what students will be required to learn/do in reading this year. You might want to talk about Daily 5/Literacy Centers/Workstations if you use them in your classroom. In fact, you might want to duplicate this slide and add your center information to a separate slide.

6 Report Cards We have four 9-week grading periods. We will schedule conferences close to the end of the first 9 weeks. The first report card will be given after our parent/teacher conference. If needed, we will schedule a conference during the spring. Explain what students will be required to learn/do in math this year.

7 Lunch Our lunchtime is 10:45-11:15. Children’s meals are $3.30 and adult meals are $ Milk is 50 cents. You may add money to your child’s account at any time. Please do not send cash on a daily basis. Set up an account for your child in the cafeteria. Explain what students will be required to learn/do in writing this year.

8 Snack We will have snack/recess at 2:05 each day.
Please keep them simple and nutritious. Please send pre-packaged snacks when it is your child’s snack day. Explain what students will be required to learn/do in science this year.

9 Cupcakes or cookies can be brought to be passed out at snack time.
Birthdays Invitations to parties can be sent home if inviting the entire class or all girls or all boys in the class. No hurt feelings! Cupcakes or cookies can be brought to be passed out at snack time. Explain what students will be required to learn/do in social studies this year.

10 Daily Schedule A copy of our daily schedule is provided. It is also available on my website. Type your daily schedule here.

11 Students will visit four special classes this year.
Our rotation for the first 9 weeks is: Art, P.E., Music, P.E. On P.E. days, please make sure your child wears tennis shoes and dresses appropriately. Girls should always wear shorts or bloomers under dresses and skirts. Type your special class information here. Mine is included as a starting point.

12 Field trip information will be sent home at a later date.
Field Trips Field trip information will be sent home at a later date. Fire Station in October Splash Day in May If you already know what field trips your class will be taking, explain here.

13 Volunteers Throughout the year there will be a variety of special classroom activities, celebrations and opportunities for you to volunteer. I welcome all offers. You must complete a background clearance in order to attend field trips or volunteer with children in any capacity. When volunteering, please make arrangements for siblings. Use this slide to explain grading procedures, progress report and report card information.

14 Library Our library day will be every Wednesday from 1:10-1:40. If you loose a book, please notify the librarian, Ms. Theis. On this slide explain what assessments your students are required to take such as GMADE, GRADE, DIBELS, or other standardized tests. You might also want to include some information about spelling tests or other weekly tests.

15 Toys SHOULD NOT be brought to school. Expensive items are discouraged.
Get parents involved! List ways parents can help out the classroom by volunteering at school or by working on things at home and sending them back to school! If your school has a volunteer policy, discuss that here.

16 A homework spiral will be sent home starting in October.
Poetry folder will be sent home on Thursday. Please complete the reading activities with your child and return it to school on Monday. A homework spiral will be sent home starting in October. Readers will be sent home for those students who are ready to begin independent reading. Explain your homework policy and what types of homework parents can expect.

17 Stay Connected! Newsletters will be sent home weekly via on Fridays. Check your child’s folder. Please review your child’s work with them weekly. Please take out all weekly papers and return the folder with any required papers the next school day. Add your contact information to this slide!

18 Tardy bell rings at 7:40 and will be reported.
Attendance Tardy bell rings at 7:40 and will be reported. Your child will be counted absent if they are not in the classroom at 10:00 a.m. If absent, please send a note/doctor’s note stating the reason for the absence.  If you have the preview open on the left side of your screen that shows all of your slides, right click on the preview of this slide and click “Duplicate slide.”
