Welcome To the ABC’s of Kindergarten Curriculum Night Mr. Cooper & Mrs. Bailey

4 A- B- Cobb County Attendance Policy
Attendance- If your child is absent please send a note stating the reason. Cobb County Attendance Policy 3 Absences/Tardies – A note will be sent home from the teacher. 5 Absences/Tardies – A letter will be sent home from the principal. 7 Absences/Tardies – A Social Worker will contact the parents. A- B- Birthday- Special treats at lunchtime. Book in the bag”-More information coming Soon…

5 B- from school, you will see that day’s square is colored
Behavior- When your child comes home from school, you will see that day’s square is colored by a specific color. Your child is responsible for coloring his/her OWN square. Make sure you take the time EACH day to look at your child’s folder and initial in that day’s square. There will be individual notes (on occasion) that I will leave in your child’s folder as well. Please, make sure you are checking your child’s folder every day! If your child has made a poor choice, but then made behavioral improvement throughout the day, your child may move his/her clip up again! Here are the following colors that you may see this year in your child’s folder, and what each color represents: Pink CAMP LEADER Purple S’more Great Effort Blue On the Right Trail Green Happy Camper Yellow Check Your Compass Orange Lost in the Woods Red Parent Contact

Campfire Story- The Camp Director will be setting up times to read to the class from 11:00- 11:20 every Friday. Clinic- the Clink nurse is on duty from 8:00-3:30 Conferences- October 17_ 21st Communication- or write notes and put in Take Home Folders Calendar Math Cooperative Learning Celebrations- Holidays (not at party) Centers- 9:10- Lunch ( 10:21), help the class at a station, Mon- Thurs. Dismissal- Any changes in to be written on a note and placed in your child’s Take Home Folder Daily Schedule- Changes may occur Envelopes- money and notes need to be labeled s- D- E-

Field Trips- Enrichment activities to enhance your child’s learning. Must have signed permission slips. “Fuzzies”- chart for positive reinforcement, given randomly for outstanding behavior and acts of kindness! 5 fuzzies= a trip to our treasure box! Fridays-Always wear your spirit wear! Guests-Must register in the office and get a visitor sticker Guided Reading- Reading groups daily /Independent Levels Game Fridays- Friday mornings, more information to come Help Wanted-Always! Handwriting- Zaner-Bloser and always neat! Practice in school and at home with adult supervison G- H-

8 I- J- K- L- Identify all belongings-Label book bags, lunch boxes, etc Journals- daily writing for all students Kindergarten is Cool!!! Library-We will visit the library weekly to check out books Literacy Tasks- Our centers are Monday-Thursday from 9:00-10: Center parents are necessary and greatly appreciated! Room Moms will be contacting you Lunch-Please join us! Our lunchtime is 10:21-10:51 except on early release days or other special days. Pack what they need Life skills-tying shoes, cleaning up, opening items…..

9 M- Medicine-Will be in the clinic and given by the nurse. All medicines need to have a clinic form filled out and taken to the nurse. Mistaces- They are made, we try our best, 22 interruptions Newsletter-Will be on the blog and updated twice a month. Organized- I try to be!  Parties- Only one party per year is permitted Positive Discipline and reinforcements- “Fuzzies” Phonics-Teaches sounds, blending of words, syllables, etc PTA- please join Poetry Folder- Sent home on Fridays, Please have your child read it to you Questions- please feel free to ask them! N- O- P- Q-

10 R- Read at home! - Record in your reading logs! Report cards- Sent home every nine weeks Routine- Important for young children Rest towel- Small towel and will be sent home on Fridays for washing. Sight Words- practice at home, more information coming soon Snacks- Healthy snack sent daily, no drinks please, except for water, do not put snack in lunch box, practice opening Take Home Folder- This goes home daily. Please sign and read the behavior sheet daily and GO OVER THE WORK IN THE FOLDER WITH YOUR CHILD. Place any notes or money in the “Return to School” side of the folder, we check this every morning. Volunteers- are needed in many areas of our school. Wish List- Optional and see board. Writing Workshop- instruction given daily in our classroom! Water Bottles welcome V- W-
