SENIOR MEETING ■ ❑ Click on the tab “Find a sign up” ❑ Type in the of your counselor ■ (A-Ca) ■ (Cb-Goo) ■ ■ (Lau-Pal) ■ ■ (Shf-Z) ❑ Click on Senior Appointment ■ I’m new to sign up genius ■ Name and create a password ❑ Look for a day/time that works best for your schedule and sign up ❑ Under the “My Account” tab, you will see your appointment time ❑ Print out confirmation of your appointment to show to your teacher as your pass out of class. Please show them in the beginning of class so that you do not disrupt class.

Naviance ( ■ Get Connected ■ We will be using Naviance to process most application materials ❑ Visit ■ Create Common App. account, Sign the FERPA waiver & authorization on the Common App lication ❑ Log on to your family connection, click on colleges, colleges you are applying to - you will be directed to enter your Common App. address. Very Important that your Naviance name is exactly the same as the name you input on Common App. or else Naviance and Common App will not sync! ❑ This will allow your counselor and many teachers to submit the necessary materials electronically. When you request a teacher recommendation letter in Naviance, an will be sent to them. We hope that you will have already asked them in person. ******Important note****** If you are applying to a Common App. School, but are using the school’s website to apply you need to let your counselor know

Deadlines ■ Senior year is all about Deadlines!! ■ Very Important deadlines ❑ Oct. 30 th The very last day to turn in your Senior Brag Sheet to your counselor for college, scholarships, job/internship opportunities, etc. (Brag Sheet can be found in Naviance under the “about me” tab. You need to print it out for your counselor) ❑ October 1 - November 30, 2015 application period for UC/ CSU campuses. CSU will accept applications starting October 1, the UC’s will begin accepting November 1. ❑ Be sure to know when your private and out-of-state applications are due.

Be aware of deadlines to register and the last test date your school will accept ❑ Request recommendations ❑ Work on application essays October ❑ Request transcripts ❑ Polish application essays ❑ Meet with college representatives ❑ Oct. 30 th deadline for requesting letter of recommendations from your counselor. November ❑ Submit online applications to UC’s and CSU’s December ❑ Look for scholarship and financial aid information ❑ Start the FAFSA/CalGrant on Jan.1, 2016

From the Counselors… ■ Have your senior brag sheet completed and printed to give to your counselor before senior meeting ■ Transcripts: Order from our registrar, Mrs. Berke, during Support, Nutrition or Lunch for $5 each. They will be available for pick up, or for your counselor to send via e-docs, 48 hours after your order. ■ If you are working with a private college counselor, please know that AHS deadlines still apply and plan accordingly. ■ s: Be sure your address is business appropriate. Check your frequently and be sure the address in Naviance is accurate. CHECK/READ your s frequently. Know that in college this will be the only way of communication with most professors. ■ ELC - when you submit your application to the UC’s it should appear ■ NCAA - Student athletes should have started the clearinghouse by the end of 10 th grade. Submit official transcripts for grades ❑

From the College and Career Center ■ Financial Aid / Scholarships - Naviance ■ College Knowledge Night - October 7 th at Oak Park High School in the main quad. ■ College Rep Visits ❑ A complete listing of college reps visiting AHS is on Naviance ❑ Check list continuously and attend as many meetings as possible ❑ Come prepared with questions and be knowledgeable about the school so you have an idea of who you’re meeting with ❑ After the visit, send a thank you to the rep. for the valuable information provided. Many of these reps will be reading your applications

Tips….. ■ Manners - Be a positive representative of AHS and yourself ■ Requesting Recommendation letters ❑ Choose a teacher who knows you and will say something positive about you. ❑ Put your request on Naviance and ask in person ❑ Send a Thank you note for writing a letter of recommendation; they are doing you a favor ❑ Complete your brag sheet as much as possible, and please print out prior to your senior meeting ❑ Check in with Counselor regularly re: process
