Getting Started On Naviance/Family Connections Click on the Naviance link on the lower left side of the front page of the SRVHS website at www.srvhs.netwww.srvhs.net Use the email and password you used to log in to Naviance last year. Click on the “forgot password?” link if you need to retrieve your password and it will be emailed to you. Still stuck? Go to the SRVHS Career and College Center for help.

Here you enter colleges that you are considering Enter Colleges to which you are applying Research colleges and find potential matches

Sign up to attend college visits here. Sign up/print the page as your pass. It must be signed by your teacher and brought with you to the visit. Over 70 colleges are scheduled to visit SRV already and more are added daily!

You will use the “Colleges” tab to enter all the colleges to which you are applying. If you need a letter of rec from your counselor, you’ll find all the forms you’ll need to complete and bring to her in the “document library” tab. This is also where you can get the Due Date Form that you’ll need to give to teachers for a letter of rec. from them.

Here you will manage the list of colleges that you are applying to. You will need to indicate the type of application (early decision, rolling, etc.), and you MUST indicate whether or not you are applying via Common App. This is also where you will go later to update Naviance with your college admissions outcomes & decisions. Please remember to do this as you hear back from schools – It Is Very Important!

The computer screen with the CA inside is a Common App school and accepts electronic submissions. The empty computer screen is a non Common App school and accepts electronic submissions Stamp is for mail only schools Note: Under the submissions screen: A red question mark will display for a school when the student has not selected whether or not they are applying via the Common App. Please make sure to designate whether or not you are applying via the Common App. This is an essential step.

Colleges That Use The Common Application If the college(s) to which you are applying uses the Common Application, before you list the college(s) in Naviance, you must first go to: www.commonapp.org and create an account. Write down the email address you used to create your Common App account. You will need to use this exact same email address in Naviance. In the Common App you must complete the Education Section, click on “Assign Recommenders” tab on the left, then complete the FERPA agreement. This must all be done BEFORE you access Naviance. You must complete the FERPA agreement in www.commonapp.org, waiving your rights to see your recommendations. Please Note: School staff will not write your recommendations unless you have waived your FERPA rights.

This is where you will enter the exact same email address you used when you set up your Common App account and your date of birth.

If you need help matching your Common App account to your Naviance account, please click on this link from the Naviance Home page and watch this short video.

Requesting Transcripts on Naviance Transcripts – UC’s and CSU’s do NOT require transcripts with application. Transcripts will be ordered through Naviance, under the “College Tab” Please DO NOT use Send.Edu or Parchment/Docufide to send transcripts. Please use Naviance to request transcripts. Once you request transcripts in Naviance, print the Transcript Status page and bring this to Mrs. Murray, Registrar, in the counseling office.

Here you can request transcripts for college applications and scholarships. Once your request list is complete, click on “Request Transcripts”. For prospective student athletes who need a transcript sent to the NCAA, add the NCAA Eligibility Center (just as you would add a college) and request the transcript. The NCAA requires the 6 th semester and final (8 th semester) transcripts.

After ordering your transcripts in Naviance, please print this page and bring this to Ms. Murray in counseling.

Requesting Letters of Recommendation From Teachers For colleges that require letters of recommendation from teachers, please first ask teachers in person if they would be willing to write you a recommendation. Ask teachers at least 3 weeks prior to your due date and ask teacher(s) what if anything they may need to write for you: (resume, forms, copies of what you are putting together for your counselor rec., etc.). Then add teacher recommendation requests in Naviance, with a short note to the teacher(s). Send requests in Naviance.

Requesting Letters of Recommendation From Teachers Make sure that you download a Due Date Form from the Document Library in Naviance and list on it the colleges that you want your teacher(s) to submit recs to for you. Give the completed Due Date form to your teachers and make sure they are clear on which colleges they need to submit their recs to for you. If you are applying to colleges that only accept recs through US mail (not electronically), make sure that you provide your teachers with stamped envelopes, addressed to each college.

This is where you will add Teacher Recommendation Requests in Naviance. A drop down menu with SRVHS teachers’ names will appear.

If you are applying to schools that DO NOT accept electronic submissions, these schools will show a postage stamp icon next to the school in Naviance. For these schools you must bring your teachers and counselor stamped envelopes addressed to these schools so that they can mail your recommendations. Please also bring hard copies of any forms required by the colleges that your teacher(s) or counselor must complete.

For Letters of Rec from Your Counselor Go to the “Document Library” in Naviance and download/complete the following forms: *Due Date Form *Student Evaluation Survey *Counselor Recommendation Checklist (ALL steps must be completed). Including all steps in Naviance. *Parent Questionnaire (Parent completes this and gives it back to you) *Complete a resume (a resume template is available in the Naviance Document Library.

For Letters of Rec from Your Counselor continued Put all of these completed forms in an envelope with the due date form on the top and make an appt. to see your counselor with this packet AT LEAST 3 WEEKS prior to your due date. NOTE: If you are applying to a school that uses the Common Application, you will likely need a counselor letter of recommendation. If you are applying to any schools that don’t accept electronic submission bring stamped addressed envelopes for your counselor to mail your recommendations You must see Mrs. Murray with your printed Naviance transcript status page, before you see your Counselor for a letter of recommendation.

Send your SAT And/Or ACT Test Scores Don’t forget to go to www.collegeboard.org to send your SAT and AP test scores to your colleges. Don’t use Score Choice.www.collegeboard.org Don’t forget to go to www.actstudent.org to send your ACT test scores to your colleges.www.actstudent.org Naviance does NOT send ANY test scores to your colleges. For UC’s: Have your official score report sent to one UC campus, and all UC campuses you apply to will receive it. For CSU’s: List CSUMentor as an SAT score recipient. The SAT code for CSUMentor is 3594. ALL CSU campuses will then receive your SAT scores.
