3 Ensure you are on track to GRADUATE
Review your transcript and check your credits. Use the Graduation Requirements Chart link in Naviance Take care of Attendance Contracts & sign up for Credit Recovery if necessary Make sure that you have fulfilled Health, PE, VPAA, World Language and SENIOR MATH-RELATED CREDITS We will explain how to get your transcript from Parchment later in the presentation If you have an approved PC, make sure you have the class that was listed as your “swap-out” course See Mr. Pantano for an attendance contract. See your counselor for Credit Recovery If you have an issue with missing a class you need, see your counselor Your credits are YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

BEYOND GPA & TEST SCORES, COLLEGES LOOK AT: Extracurricular activities Essays (stay on topic & proofread) Letters of Recommendation (not always needed. Use Naviance to request from teachers BUT ASK THE TEACHER FIRST IF THEY ARE WILLING) Your interest in the school How you are representing yourself – social media COLLEGE APPLICATIONS HAVE MANY COMPONENTS

Add colleges to COLLEGES I’M THINKING ABOUT Check the box for colleges you are applying to and click MOVE TO APPLICATION LIST Indicate how you will submit your application – COMMON APP or DIRECTLY TO THE INSTITUTION Click ADD AND REQUEST TRANSCRIPTS. You are sending your INITIAL transcript For MACOMB applications, put Macomb in your APPLICATION LIST, click I APPLIED but do not request a transcript.

14 Getting SAT & ACT Scores to Colleges

15 DEVELOP A PLAN TO PAY FOR COLLEGE
Attend SHS Financial Aid Night on September 27th at 6:30 in the ECC Pursue Scholarships Submit your FAFSA so each school can determine aid you qualify for Compare Financial Aid Award letters from each school Search for other funding

16 DO YOUR FAFSA THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP FOR FINANCIAL AID IS TO FILL OUT THE FAFSA It’s FREE Submit online beginning October 1 (but before March 1) in order to be eligible for the greatest amount of state aid

Scholarships Visit the Scholarship section on Naviance and other scholarship websites such as those listed in the info in the Senior section of the SHS website These scholarship resources are free of charge Don’t miss deadlines Proofread carefully Complete ALL required information

18 Playing sports in college Any student wishing to play sports at the college level must QUALIFY. You MUST register at Meet with your counselor to assess your academic readiness Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center after junior year Closely monitor your classes and grades Send a transcript to the NCAA eligibility center from Naviance Send ACT scores to NCAA by entering "9999” as a reporting selection when registering
