3 Early Admissions Options
Early Decision Binding You can only apply to one Early Decision school Admission decision by December 1st Early Action Non-binding You can apply to multiple schools Admission decision before winter break Students usually have until May 1st to commit Rolling Admissions You can apply whenever you want Admission is granted on a first-come, first-serve basis, you can apply early for an early notification Note: Regardless of admissions option, students should pay close attention to deadlines for scholarship consideration (merit and need based)! Visit Yorktown’s webpage Click Students tab….

Forgot your password? Ask your counselor to reset it! Username: Student ID # Seniors should be familiar with logging in to Nav/FC, should know how to log in using DOB or and password If they need to reset their account, see counselor Parent can have a Parent account-but can only view account of their child, but cannot make modifications Password: 6 Digit Bday

6 Naviance Student Welcome Screen
Information needed to fill out the college application. (will be updated) Once logged in, this is the main page of the account. Important to point that on this page, students can see: Welcome-section has the information needed to fill out the Education section of the application Welcome Seniors! Have very valuable information to complete the college application Need to sign up for college visits through Naviance. Over 120 colleges will be visiting Yorktown this fall. Passes – show teacher on the phone that they are registered and they will be allowed to visit. Attendance will be taken by Mr. Calabro. 8 Match Common App & Naviance
Make Common App Account Complete the current school segment of the education section Add at least one college to your My Colleges List Read and Sign the FERPA Release Authorization Log into Naviance Student Colleges -> Colleges I’m Applying to Click “Match” on pink banner Use Common App Done!

9 Must have a “Common App” account and Sign the FERPA Waiver Form to start the application process Go to the website: The FERPA Is found in My Colleges tab Create a CA account Sign the FERPA Fill out the Education section to allow access to complete the FERPA form Important: The used to create a CA account is needed to match your Naviance account and Yorktown ONLY uses Naviance to send supporting documents!

16 Transcript Deadlines 2018-19
Please turn in transcript & recommendation requests to the Counseling Office by the Deadline dates to ensure your counselor can meet College Due Dates.  College Due Date Yorktown Deadline October 1 September 7 October 15 September 21 November 1 October 5 November 15 October 19 December 1 November 2 December 15 November 16 January 1 December 3 January 15 December 14 February 1 January 4 February 15 January 25 March 1 February 8 Submit requests at least 3-4 weeks before college deadlines. Need Brag Sheets for Rec Letter We have nearly 500 seniors that is why we ask that materials are submitted by these deadlines

Students are responsible for submitting official test scores Send scores through your College Board or ACT accounts Visit SAT/SAT Subject Scores Visit to send ACT scores

October 9, 2018 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Students preregister at register.gotocollegefairs.com College Admission Rep YHS Over 100 colleges/universities visiting YHS this Fall Seniors must register 2 days prior to the visit through Naviance and notify teacher Students are responsible for turning/completing any work missed

22 Transcript Review Transcripts will be delivered today.
Review transcript for any errors. If you find an error, circle or highlight it and return it to your counselor Please return to Counseling Office by Monday, September 17th! Give examples of possible errors to look for

25 SOL & Verified Credits Standard Diploma = 1 English, 1 Reading, 1 Math, 1 Science, 1 History, 1 “any other” = 6 Verified Credits Advanced Diploma = 1 English, 1 Reading, 2 Math, 2 Science, 2 History, 1 “any other” = 9 Verified Credits Total number of verified credits. That’s enough for an Advanced Diploma!
