PLANNING LESSON OBJECTIVES: TO COMPLETE PLANNING YOUR MAGAZINE PRODUCTION.

RESEARCH AND PLANNING The final deadline for your Research and Planning is Thursday 24 th of October. All Research and Planning tasks must be completed and handed in by that date.

DRAFT COPY You will need to draft the text for your magazine including: Main text of your double page spread Coverlines Headlines Contents listings Pull-quotes

FRONT COVER Create a mock up of your magazine front cover using a suitable image from the internet.

MEDIA PACK Create a media pack for your own magazine. Your media pack should include information about your target audience, a description of your ideal or typical consumer, and a mission statement. Your media pack should also be clearly branded. (You should also ensure that your pitch demonstrates a clear brand identity) Examples of existing media packs for magazines can be found on google.

USEFUL AUDIENCE RESEARCH Lots of people’s questionnaires contained vague questions or asked about things which are not relevant. You need to ensure that you have evidence of asking at least 5 members of your target audience: What features they look for in a music magazine What font styles and colours they would find appealing What imagery they would want to see What tone your magazine should have

AUDIENCE FEEDBACK You also need to ensure you have evidence of feedback from your target audience on your planning. This could include getting feedback on draft layouts, font styles, photography, draft text, and the pitch. The purpose of your audience feedback is to find out if your ideas are conventional and appealing. Ask your audience to identify strengths and weaknesses, and suggest improvements. Summarise your feedback, and explain how this feedback helps you, and any changes you will make as a result.

PHOTOGRAPHY You need to have your images for your production work by the first lesson back after half term meaning you need to be taking your photographs this week and/or during half term. You will be working on the production of your magazine immediately after half term and will only have a limited number of lessons to complete this work.

LESSON TASKS Complete any of Tasks 1-11 that are incomplete. Write draft copy for your magazine. Produce mock-up of front cover. Make sure you have useful audience research completed. Create your media pack. Complete improvement targets.
