What is a Direct Object? A direct object is a thing or person getting the action of a verb. * Usually answers the question Example What? Whom? Carlos eats What?  The food. The food is the direct object. or In English: Carlos eats the food.

Example in Spanish: Carlos come la comida. Carlos come qué?  La comida La comida is the direct object.

Remember Subject Pronouns? Remember how subject pronouns are used to replace the subject? YoNosotros/Nosotras TúTú Él Ella Usted Ellos Ellas Ustedes SUBJECT PRONOUNS English Example: Samuel plays basketball. He also plays soccer. (Subject) (Subject Pronoun) Spanish Example: Samuel juega baloncesto. Él también juega fútbol. (Subject) (Subject Pronoun)

I want to eat it.  Quiero comerlo. *When there are two verbs, you can put the direct object pronoun after the unconjugated verb, as part of the word* (verb) Conjugated “Yo form” of Querer Non-conjugated verb. You can tell because it still ends in –er. (the direct object pronoun “lo” after the unconjugated verb, as part of the word)
