1 7-8 th Grade Family: Procedures

2 morning procedures 1.Enter the classroom silently. 2.Put bookbags, coats, and hats in ___________. They will remain there until the end of 3 rd block. You will not be allowed to retrieve any belongings before this time. 3.Sit in your assigned seat and eat your breakfast. 4.Turn in notes and important papers to the teacher. 5.Write down homework for first block in your agendas. 6.Make sure you have 2 sharpened #2 pencils. No pencils will be sharpened during the instructional day. If needed during instruction, trade with teacher. 7.Read the board and complete the assigned work. 8.After morning work is completed, read silently, study, or write in your journal. 9.Listen to the morning news and read aloud. 10.Make sure your are in proper uniform and have your nametag on. **Shirts tucked in, nametag on collar.

3 food and drinks Food will only be eaten during breakfast and lunch time. There will no gum allowed at any time. If you bring a water bottle, be sure to consider that you will only be able to use the restroom during our scheduled bathroom breaks. We are responsible for clean-up after each meal.

4 entering a classroom 1.Enter a classroom silently. 2.Sit in your assigned seat quickly. 3.Copy down homework in agenda (Your teacher will initial next to it.) 1.Have homework out and ready. 2.Begin warm up. 3.Wait for teacher’s next instruction.

5 transitions between classes 1.Keep your hands to your side, off the walls, bulletin boards and others around you. 2.Talk to those around you in a quiet tone. 3.Do not lean on the walls. 4.Line up at the wall outside your next class, wait patiently and quietly until a teacher invites you in. 5.Enter your next class silently.

6 lining up 1.Remain at your desk until you’re called to line up. 2.Stand up quietly and push your chair in. 3.Make sure nothing is on the floor around or under your desk. 4.Do not run or push when lining up.

7 bathroom procedures We will ALWAYS go to the bathroom as a class. We will not interrupt instructional time to use the bathroom. o If an emergency arises, an administrator will escort you. Remain in line and wait for teacher direction.

8 assigned bathroom times 1 st Block o Ferguson: 9:00 o Schropp: 9:05 o Stallsworth: 9:10 o Owens: 9:15 o (SOCIAL STUDIES): 9:20 o McCall: 9:25 3 rd Block (after lunch)

9 turning in completed assignments 1.Remain in your seat. 2.Double check to see that your name, block and date is on your paper. 3.Follow directions for turning in assignments given by teacher.

10 “9-1-1” codes 1: Need one more copy of worksheet/ paper 2: Tissue 3: Pencil 5: Question/Answer

11 dealing with someone who has “wronged you” 1.Speak to the person you have a problem with first at lunch. 2.Use kind words, not actions, to try to solve the problem. 3.If the problem is not fixed, write a note or speak to your teacher. 4.If it’s an emergency, tell the teacher immediately. (physical violence, bad language, excessive bullying, property damage) 5.The PARK is a DRAMA FREE ZONE!

12 discussing differences with a teacher 1.Do not argue/speak across the room in the middle of a lesson. 2.Write a note to the teacher and give it to him/her privately. 3.If it’s really important, you may approach a teacher during lunch or P.A.T. 4.Respect the teacher’s final decision.

13 asking for help 1.Raise your hand and wait PATIENTLY for the teacher to assist you. 2.While you are waiting, skip what you are having trouble with and work on another problem. 3.During group work, ask partner(s) before asking the teacher.

14 finishing an assignment early 1.Check over your work. 2.Complete homework for another class. 3.Read an AR book.

15 dismissal procedures 1.Absolutely NO talking. 2.Listen to the read aloud. 3.Remove agenda and take-home folder from binder. 4.Pass up binder for collection. 5.Have all items ready to go home. 6.Remain at your desk until you are called. 7.Stack all chairs in the designated areas. 8.Line up when the adult dismisses you according to your bus slot color and other transportation. 9.The teacher or adult will walk students to the buses. 10.Follow hallway procedures! 11.DO NOT run off. We need to see you getting to the appropriate place. Wait for a high five or hug from me!!!

16 fire drill procedures 1.Remain CALM! 2.Line up SILENTLY as soon as the alarm goes off. 3.Follow line up procedures. 4.Last person, be sure to close the door. 5.Walk SILENTLY and SAFELY to the assigned location. 6.Follow hallway procedures.

18 lunchroom procedures 1.Chew your food with your mouth closed. 2.When the music is on, raise your hand and DO NOT talk. Wait to put your hand down until receiving a thumbs up from your teacher. 3.When the music is off, you may talk in a SOFT tone. 4.Raise your hand if you need something. Do not get up from your seat. 5.Do not speak down the table or to students at other tables.
