TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Rusty Evans School: LaGrange High Louisiana State Standard: Evaluate the effectiveness of natural resource management in Louisiana (SE-HB4) (SE-H-B5) Grade Level/Subject: 9th Grade Environmental Science AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. enhancement SUBSTITUTION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with no real change.

2 Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement
Article Review TSW review a recent article on predator/prey relationship in Louisiana SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Google a recent article on a predator/prey relationship in Louisiana. In a document worksheet, answer the questions and discuss the impact of the relationship on the Louisiana environment. In your document, discuss the consequences of a depletion or over population of either of the species. Be prepared to discuss. This task uses Internet capable devices Google Chrome: Learning Objective(s): Evaluate the effectiveness of natural resource management in Louisiana (SE-HB4) (SE-H-B5) Determine the effects of limiting factors on a population and describe the concept of carrying capacity (SE-H- A3) Explain how species in an ecosystem interact and link in a complex web (SE-HA7) (SE-H-A10) Explain why biodiversity is essential to the survival of organisms (SE-H-A9) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Rusty Evans School: LaGrange High Louisiana State Standard: Evaluate the effectiveness of natural resource management in Louisiana (SE-HB4) (SE-H-B5) Grade Level/Subject: 9th Grade Environmental Science Special Directions/Considerations: The article review would need to be created by the teacher. The information needed would be as follows: article, date of publication, identify the prey, identify the predator, discuss the impact that this relationship would have on the Louisiana environment. Note: Since students are searching in Google, the teacher should supervise student activity by continually monitoring content. Activity Evaluation: Teacher will assess the student answers for accuracy. Prerequisites for students: LA wildlife (organisms)

3 Power Point on Food Chains/Webs in Louisiana
TSW complete a power point on predator/prey relationships in Louisiana AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. Open Power Point in Microsoft Office. Create a power point on the predator/prey relationship you’ve chosen from the Substitution activity and the consequences of over population or depletion of each species on the environment in Louisiana. In Blackboard, go to your teacher’s Blackboard site and upload the power point to the discussion board, “Food Chains/Webs” Louisiana. This task uses: .Computer w/ Microsoft Office Internet access Learning Objective(s): Evaluate the effectiveness of natural resource management in Louisiana (SE-HB4) (SE-H-B5) Explain how species in an ecosystem interact and link in a complex web (SE-HA7) (SE-H-A10) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Rusty Evans School: LaGrange High Louisiana State Standard: Evaluate the effectiveness of natural resource management in Louisiana (SE-HB4) (SE-H-B5) Grade Level/Subject: 9th Grade Environmental Science Special Directions/Considerations: In order for students to upload documents to Blackboard, their teacher must have successfully completed BB201 and enrolled their students in their site. If this has not occurred, an alternative would be for the students to the powerpoint to their teacher or save it on the h drive. Activity Evaluation: Project Grade will be determined using the rubric on the next page. Prerequisites for students: LA wildlife (organisms)

5 Predator/Prey Relationship in Louisiana
M Predator/Prey Relationship in Louisiana Create a video on predator/prey relationships in Louisiana MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign. Each group will agree on a LA predator and a prey to examine. Each group will create a video on the predator and the prey and their relationship. In the video, describe the energy transfer and the consequences to the environment if either of the species should rapidly decline or increase. Use and video creation device, keeping the video under 2 minutes. Go to your teacher’s Blackboard site and upload the video to the Discussion Board, Predator/Prey Videos. This task uses: Internet Connection Device Blackboard Video creation device or app Learning Objective(s): Evaluate the effectiveness of natural resource management in Louisiana (SE-HB4) (SE-H-B5) Explain how species in an ecosystem interact and link in a complex web (SE-HA7) (SE-H-A10) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Rusty Evans School: LaGrange High Louisiana State Standard: Evaluate the effectiveness of natural resource management in Louisiana (SE-HB4) (SE-H-B5) Grade Level/Subject: 9th Grade Environmental Science Special Directions/Considerations: In order for students to upload documents to Blackboard, their teacher must have successfully completed BB201 and enrolled their students in their site. If this has not occurred, an alternative would be for the students to the video to their teacher or save it on the h drive. Students are given the opportunity to use the app or software of their choosing. Ideas include Photostory, iMovie, Moviemaker, etc. Activity Evaluation: Rubric on the next page will be used to grade the video. Prerequisites for students: LA wildlife (organisms)

7 R Will your organisms be regulated? LA wildlife and fisheries management. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. Review the predator/prey relationships in the power points and videos on blackboard and decide if any LA organisms posted require wildlife management. Go to the predator/prey relationships posted on Blackboard. As a member of the LA wildlife and fisheries department, decide if any of the LA organisms in the videos require intervention in the population management. Construct a wildlife management response to the power points/videos of the most endangered species and post it on blackboard. Be sure to validate your response. This task uses: Internet connecting devise. Blackboard Word document Learning Objective(s): Evaluate the effectiveness of natural resource management in Louisiana (SE- HB4) (SE-H-B5 TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Rusty Evans School: LaGrange High Louisiana State Standard: Evaluate the effectiveness of natural resource management in Louisiana (SE-HB4) (SE-H-B5) Grade Level/Subject: 9th Grade Environmental Science Special Directions/Considerations: In order for this to occur, the teacher will need to have successfully completed BB201 and enrolled students in their Blackboard course. An alternative to this would be for the students to have saved their powerpoints and videos to the h drive and then they could have been reviewed from this location. Activity Evaluation: Student responses will be accessed for accuracy. In other words, the information presented to validate the response will be accessed for accuracy. Prerequisites for students: LA wildlife (organisms)
