3 A Biome Discovery Internet iPad or computer Blackboard
Based upon the reading from Chapter 6 about biomes, we are going to construct our own 8 biomes. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. Using the definitions and pictures that you drew about biomes, open your interactive notebook to that page. Log in to your computer. Using the browser Google Chrome, go to the site Switch Zoo. Select a biome to build based on your knowledge of the characteristics of the biomes. Read the directions then click next. Click play. Follow the directions that appear on the screen. Once you biome is built correctly, take a screen shot (hold the power and menu button simultaneously, a snippet or click ctrl+printscreen). Login to Blackboard. Click on Mr. Johnson’s Blackboard site. Click on the Discussion board. Create a thread to add your screenshot. Repeat for the other biomes you built. You should have 6 submissions total. Create a class trophic pyramid REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. Log in to the computer and open the Chrome browser. Select from the approved list of sites an example of a trophic pyramid. You and your group are going to design one of the trophic levels using various materials. Construction paper, project board, ect. 3. One member of the group will login in to Blackboard and select Mr. Johnson’s Blackboard site. Click on the Discussion board titled Trophic Pyramid. Post your group’s project with the name of your trophic level. Once you’ve posted your trophic level, find the group from another hour who has the same level as you and compare organisms. Provide comments to show that you agree with their representation or provide suggestions to improve their level.
