A Peek At The Week
-In reading we are continuing to direct instruction at students’ reading levels.
-In Math we are starting our new unit on shapes. This week students will explore how to divide a shape into equal parts. They will also be introduced to new math vocabulary: ½ and ¼.
-Writing time this week will begin a unit on Poetry. We will listen to a variety of poems for movement words and create a Recess Poem by the end of the week
-Our Core Knowledge time will switch to Social Studies this week. We are beginning a unit on Frontier Explorations. The students will be introduced to Daniel Boone and the Louisiana Purchase.
Homework Ideas
-Please take time to read with your child every night for minutes.
-Reading homework should be coming home daily!
Looking Ahead
-March 30 Spirit day: where something from your favorite basketball or baseball team
-April 4 Pasta for Pennies fundraiser begins
-April 11 Annual MSA meeting at 6pm
-April 21 First grade Field Trip
-April 27 Sock Hop 6-8pm
-April 28 No School
Extra News
-On Friday, April 21st first grade will be going on a field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. We are very excited about the many exhibits that compliment what we have already studied in Science and Social Studies. More information will be sent home in the next few weeks
