Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement
All About My Element Have your element research worksheet so you can take notes on your element. Click on the website Find and click on your element on the Periodic Table. Record the information about your element on the element research worksheet. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): Learning Target: - PS –M-A2:Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons. - PS-M-A3: Identify the physical and chemical properties of various substances and group substances according to their observable and measurable properties (e.g., conduction, magnetism, light transmission). SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Teacher Notes: This site lets the student see what the elements look like in real life. Teacher’s name/ Amy School: AA Nelson Elementary Louisiana State Standard: Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons (PS-M-A2) Identify the physical and chemical properties of various substances and group substances according to their observable and measurable properties (e.g., conduction, magnetism, light transmission) (PS-M-A3) Grade Level/Subject: 5th/Science Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Teacher Observation Prerequisites for students: Elements and the Periodic Table

a Element Poster Ask yourself: Do I have everything I need?
- Element Research Worksheet Open up Word and create a informational flyer about your element. Save your element flyer as a .jpg because we will be attaching it to a QR Code for our next task. Print out an copy of your flyer and turn it in. This task uses: Learning Target: - PS –M-A2:Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons. - PS-M-A3: Identify the physical and chemical properties of various substances and group substances according to their observable and measurable properties (e.g., conduction, magnetism, light transmission). AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool substitute with functional improvement TEACHER NOTES: Students will use word to create a flyer about their specific element. Teacher’s name/ Amy School: AA Nelson Elementary Louisiana State Standard: Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons (PS-M-A2) Identify the physical and chemical properties of various substances and group substances according to their observable and measurable properties (e.g., conduction, magnetism, light transmission) (PS-M-A3) Grade Level/Subject: 5th/Science Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Flyer and Teacher observation. Prerequisites for students: Elements and Periodic Table.

M QR Code Click on the website http://www.qr-code-generator.com/
Sign in using username: and pw: student. Click on create a new QR Code. Choose Code Type : Image Enter Data: search for your image in the files on the computer. Design your Code. Print out your Code. Attach your QR Code to the Periodic Table Bulletin Board, right outside the classroom. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): Learning Target: - PS –M-A2:Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons. - PS-M-A3: Identify the physical and chemical properties of various substances and group substances according to their observable and measurable properties (e.g., conduction, magnetism, light transmission). . MODIFICATION Technology allows for a significant task redesign. TEACHER NOTES: Creating a QR Code for student’s Elements. Teacher’s name/ Amy School: AA Nelson Elementary Louisiana State Standard: Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons (PS-M-A2) Identify the physical and chemical properties of various substances and group substances according to their observable and measurable properties (e.g., conduction, magnetism, light transmission) (PS-M-A3) Grade Level/Subject: 5th/Science Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Teacher observation and OR Code. Prerequisites for students: Elements and Periodic Table.

What’s What on the Periodic Table
You will need your QR Element Recording Worksheet. You will grab an iPad from the cart. You will go outside to where the Periodic Table Bulletin Board is and scan the Element QR Codes to answer the questions on your worksheet. Once your worksheet is complete turn it in. REDEFINITION Technology allows for new tasks, previously inconceivable. TEACHER NOTES: To make this an R – The students will be scanning the QR Codes that a different class made. Teacher’s name/ Amy School: AA Nelson Elementary Louisiana State Standard: Describe the structure of atoms and the electrical charge of protons, neutrons, and electrons (PS-M-A2) Identify the physical and chemical properties of various substances and group substances according to their observable and measurable properties (e.g., conduction, magnetism, light transmission) (PS-M-A3) Grade Level/Subject: 5th/Science Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Element Recording Worksheet and Teacher Observation Prerequisites for students: Elements and the Periodic Table
