11 coherence Clear and orderly presentation of ideas in a paragraph or essay

To compare two unlike objects, ideas, thoughts, or feelings to provide a clearer description without using the words like or as. Hank has the heart of a lion. She is a shining star. That desk is a pigpen.

26 Sensory language Use of details from the five senses to add color and depth to writing. It helps readers visualize.

27 short story Work of fiction that presents a sequence of events, or plot that deals with a conflict It is shorter in length than a novel and can be read in one sitting.

This is not one word. The theme needs to be written as a statement.
