Procedures (The way that we do things.)

Classroom procedures Morning- Empty backpack at your locker and enter the classroom quietly. Get organized for the day: sharpen pencils, turn in work, straighten up your desk. Get materials ready for your morning classes (you do not return to your homeroom after specials). Turn in homework. Complete bellwork.

Classroom procedures In your classes: Remain seated unless you are told to do otherwise. Use SLANT. Have all materials with you. Carry your planner and homework folder to all classes.

Classroom procedures Clean up your area and return materials to their proper homes. Write assignments in your planner when the class is over. Place worksheets in your homework folder.

Hallway procedures Go to your locker in the morning and at dismissal. Keep voices very soft(0-1 level) as other students are learning. Walk on the right hand side of the hallway. Stop at designated points. Yield to adults. Keep classroom lines single file. Enter the classroom after the teacher invites you in.

Restroom procedures Ask to use restroom during independent work time (not when directions are being given or direct teaching is going on) Take pass and present to Ms. Reagan. Wait for her to nod yes/no. Check your name on the clipboard. Be sure to return the pass so that others can go. Be quick: Use, flush, wash, leave.

Recess procedures Include everyone in all activities. Play by the rules. Return equipment to white basket. Listen for the bell to go into the commons. Go to your assigned table and wait for instructions.

Lunchroom procedures Make lunch a pleasant experience for all with positive words and actions. Remain seated and raise your hand if you need something. Clean up after yourself. Respect the lights out signal by becoming silent fast.

Dismissal procedures Carefully complete planner and prepare materials that need to go home. Go to your locker and get your coat and backpack. Put materials in your backpack. Wait for announcements and prayer. Listen for your name and leave.

Science class procedures Follow classroom procedures. Follow directions on learning activities sheet. Read directions carefully. Do activities in order. Always use materials and equipment in the safe and appropriate way.

Collaborative group jobs Collaborative means working together. In science we will often work together on lab activities. People collaborating take turns, listen to each other and help each other get work done so that they learn a lot! People not collaborating waste time, are disrespectful and don't learn much.

Will you be collaborative ? Yes YES

What are the collaborative group jobs? 1. The FACILITATOR makes sure everyone understands directions and that everyone participates. They are the only one to ask the teacher if no one in the group knows an answer.

Collaborative jobs…. 2. The RESOURCE PERSON collects materials needed to complete the lab. They also make sure everyone helps to clean up and return materials.

Collaborative jobs…. 3. The RECORDER makes sure the group has notes and that lab reports complete. They take the lead in writing things down. However, all group members record their own results.

Collaborative jobs… 4. The REPORTER speaks for the group and give the results of the lab activity. They summarize and explain how the work was accomplished.

Using collaborative roles helps us to learn from each other. It is the way real scientists work on projects: they work together to solve problems, make life easier and people healthier. Be a good collaborative team member!
