EASYHOME : Context and beneficiaries EASYHOME : Context and beneficiaries : Unione Europea FESR Having acknowledged the ability of home automation technology to improve the well being, comfort and security of potential users and particularly of elderly people, often the inherent complexity of such systems represent a barrier to the full exploitation of all these benefits. The complexity comes mainly from the implementation of functions exeeding users expectations both from a qualitative perspective (not precise identification of users needs) and from a quantitative perspective (too many functions in respect to users receptive capability). Also the interfaces and interaction devices arent usually well designed and limit the access to the technology instead of favouring it. The Easyhome project aims at solving these problems, developing an home automation system readily usable and really helpful to the user. Who will benefit from this project? The project wants to benefit active aging people and all those people that, though not suffering from serious impairment, would not be at ease with a potentially helpful technological solution.

EASYHOME : objectives Unione Europea FESR Develop an user friendly home automation system to improve the well being of potential users and partcularly those belonging to an aging population Develop easy to use interaction devices and interfaces Simplify common domestic tasks by providing readily comprehensible color code messages Improve user relax and comfort through efficient, advanced lighting solutions Improve the well being of the user by providing UV LED sanitization solutions to domestic appliances

EASYHOME : Project Structure EASYHOME : Project Structure : Unione Europea FESR The project will be the result of a multidisciplinary effort, combining concepts of electronics, usability, cognitive ergonomics and ICT technologies. The R&D activities cover 6 areas of expertise, associated with Workpackages from number 1 to number 6

EASYHOME : Expected results and Impact of the project EASYHOME : Expected results and Impact of the project : Unione Europea FESR The project will make possible the development of the following concepts : Photosensitive organic interaction devices for gestural comunication User friendly interaction devices for elders or slightly impaired people Implementation of color code comunication and UV LED light sanification means into domestic appliances Development of adaptive, energy efficient LED lighting systems Wireless or power line comunication network for system/device integration From a technological perspective the following results will positively impact the regional economic system Organic optoelectronic device production technology implementation Chip on Board technology implementation for LED light engines manufacturing Thermal reflow technologies for micro optic systems manufactoring Development of model based methodologies to simplify user/system interaction
