By Trent Persinger Colin Powell

Hi my name is Colin Powell.I was born at Harlem, New York city on April 5,1937.

I moved to South Bronx and grow up in a 4-bedroom apartment on Kelly street. I grow up in a warm, close knit family. For school I went to a neighborhood school. Then went to Morris high school.

My mom’s name is Maud and my dad’s name is Luther, my Sister’s name is Marilyn. Me and Alma Vivian Johnson Were married August 25, My first child Michael was born while I was in Vietnam. Ten my daughter Linda was born in 1965 and a second, Annemarie was born five years later.

I was the highest rank in my group. When I was a officer my group was called the Pershing Rifles. I decided to follow the army and on June 9, 1958 then I became a second lieutenant. I got a career in the military.I was top of the army. I was called in to duty, then I took command of the first Battalion 32nd infantry.

I was hardworking, secessful, smart,a leader, nice, careful, impressive, quiet efficiency, competence,I have time for other people.

I was a cadet colonel, got to be a second lieutenant. When I was out of action in Vietnam,a few weeks later I won the purple heart and later that year I was awarded the Bronze star. Then when I was flying over Vietnam my helicoper crashed and burned,I got all the soldiers out safely. I was awarded the Soldiers star and the and another Bronze star.

My goals were to do your job well and to give hope to other late bloomers.

When I was little there was not many children at my age were I was born,so I went everywhere with my sister. In the 1950s black people were treated different, when I to a restaurant and when I wanted a hamburger and the waitress won’t give me one if I went to the back of the restaurant.

I was an honorable profession and a contributions to society. I kept things running smoothly between the white house and the government agencies. I was given credit for the U.S. success after Iraq. When the war was over in March 6,1991 I got credit for the battle plan and the smooth operation.
