3  Around where Laura lived, there were blizzards for 7 whole months and their family suffered with NO food.  When it got a little warmer Laura ground meat with her mother.  When Laura was younger she was a great student and learned very well.

4 o When Laura became a adult, she started writing books. When she got better and better, she became a famous author. o Laura’s daughter also wrote books and Laura helped her write her books.

5  Laura’s family moved to Missouri.  In winter, Laura and her family suffered in the cold.  They had nothing to eat because all the stores were closed.

6  Laura contributed “The Little House” series.  She wrote books about her childhood and adult life all over the world  People can see how hard it was to live a childhood such as hers.

7 TThe “Little House” books were from the childhood memories of the author herself. LLaura’s books are Historical Fiction, which means that they have true facts and some made up facts.

10 * He was born in Detroit on February 4, 1902. * He grew up on farm. * He had 6 brothers and sisters. * His middle name was August. * His mom and dad were named August and Louise.

11 * He graduated from the University of Michigan law school in 1883. * In 1909, he was elected to Congress. * He held his seat until 1916. * He was elected for the Republicans in Congress and soon was their leader.

12 * In 1924 he signed up for the army. * He trained in the air service. * He graduated from Brooks and Kelly Field as the best pilot in his class.

13 * There was a challenge to fly to Paris from New York. * People had died doing it, but he still took the challenge. He just needed the right plane.

14 * He took off from Roosevelt Field near New York City. * He landed in Lebourget Field near Paris on May 10. * He flew 3,600 miles in 33 ½ hours!

15 * In April 1944 he went to the Pacific War as an advisor. * Even though he was a civilian, he still flew 50 combat missions.

16 * He died of cancer on August 26, 1974 on the island of Maui and was buried in Hooman Church.

17 * His twenty month old son was kidnapped on March 1 st. * Ten weeks later, his body was found dead. * They arrested a carpenter named Bruno Richard Hauptmann.

21 Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois

22 After Walt’s birth the Disney family moved to Marceline, Missouri. Walt lived most of his childhood in Marceline.

23 Walt studied art at McKinley High School in Chicago. He joined the Red Cross in 1918. He drove an ambulance in France. His ambulance was covered with Disney cartoons.

24 In 1932 Walt Disney’s studio won his first Academy Award for the first color cartoon called “Flowers and Trees.”

25 Walt Disney’s dream of Disneyland Park came true in 1955.
