S URVEYS You are a valuable resource! You have a wealth of knowledge about your student! Please take the time to complete the survey and return it to me, either in person, through your student, or via . Your input really makes a difference and I use them to guide my teaching with each student!

A BOUT ME My name is Ellie Shane and this is my first year at HIS. I grew up in Seattle and went to Ballard High School. I then attended Western Washington University and received my BA in History/Social Studies. I also attended Woodring College of Education and received my teaching credentials. I worked as a substitute in the Seattle, Shoreline, and Highline School Districts.

W ORLD H ISTORY ! (W HAT DO WE L EARN ?) Just a Few of the Interesting Topics of Study: Introduction and Early History (includes early humans, geographic indicators, and river civilizations) First Contact and Global Empires (includes European exploration, Columbian Exchange, Triangular Trade, and beginnings of Imperialism) Renaissance and Scientific Revolution Interesting project: ‘Science Fair’ – Students will research a scientific discovery from the Scientific Revolution in Europe and create a poster. A gallery walk will accompany it (such as gallery walks during a science fair) Revolutions (includes American Revolution, French Revolution, Latin American Revolutions, and the industrial Revolution) Many More!!!

H ISTORICAL S KILLS Analysis Evaluation, Argumentative Writing, Summarizing, and Comparing & Contrasting, are some focus skills for this year!
