Routines and Procedures
Office Hours: Since I will not be on campus everyday, I will hold specific before and afterschool office hours. These hours will be noted each week on the class calendar. You may use this time to ask for tutoring, test corrections, or questions that you may have in gengeral.
Be On Time: If you are not here you are absent. Similarly, you are tardy if you are not in your seat by the time the bell rings. Tardiness will be marked on the attendance and result in a lower participation grade for the day.
Turn In Work: Homework should be turned in to the appropriate boxes in the back of the class at the start of each day. If it is not in the box by then, it is considered late. Graded homework should also be collected at this time. (e.g. Assigned on Monday … due on Wednesday)
Test Corrections: Students correct incorrect questions and earn back a ½ point. Test corrections are offered for three (3) days only following each test. Students must complete and turn in the appropriate form before attempting test corrections.
“No Name” papers: Posted on the whiteboard for one week and may be claimed for regular credit. Assignments not claimed will be filed away and awarded late credit.
Late/Absent Work: Homework can be submitted late for half credit up until the test of the unit in which it was assigned. (e.g. Unit 1 work due before Unit 1 test) Any homework or classwork missed with an excused absence can be made up for full credit up to one day following the day it was assigned. If you were absent the day an assignment is due, you may submit it the next class that we meet for full credit. (e.g. absent Monday … Due by Friday) Any later submissions will receive half credit.
Extra Credit Opportunities
Extra credit will be added onto the final grade at the end of the semester.
History Shirt Friday: wear a history related or school spirit shirt on the Fridays that our class meets. For each day you wear a shirt you will receive a stamp on your shirt pass that can be turned in at the end of the semester as extra credit on the final exam. Shirts do not have to funny or elaborate. You can even design and create your own shirt that can be worn for all the Fridays that our class meets.
Behavior/Expectations: Students should be respectful of the teacher and their peers at all times. We will have BYOD days where phones and tech are welcome, but there is a ZERO tolerance policy for cell phones during instructional times. Cell phones must remain put away in backpacks unless otherwise specified by the teacher. To keep from temptations, backpacks should also remain on the floor and under the desk.
Bathroom/Super Pass: Students will get 4 bathroom passes per semester. They can use these four at any time, but will not be given any more for the remainder of the semester. Any leftover restroom passes can be used for extra credit at the end of the semester. If there is an emergent situation the student may elect to receive a lower participation grade for the day. Students will also get two superpasses that they can exchanged for full credit on any regular homework or classwork assignments, as a get out of tardy free pass, or as an aditional bathroom pass. These too can be turned in for extra credit at the end of the semester.
Cheating/Plagiarism: Cheating or plagiarizing is the act of taking someone else’s work and passing it off as your own. If caught or suspected of cheating or plagiarizing ANY assignments, students will receive a zero on the assignment. Progressive behavioral disciplines may also be discussed with the teacher.
