Oil Africa conference And Exhibition 2008

Who and what is Oil Africa? The Oil Africa project was initiated in 2003 with the first event held in March Developed and managed by South African business interests the exhibition, conference and workshops have been designed to facilitate the expansion of local industry in conjunction with international partners and suppliers. Oil Africa 2008 was the 3rd Sub-Saharan Oil, Gas and Petrochemical exhibition and conference, which explores the dynamics of global oil and gas demands, changes in strategies, skills & training and various market specific issues. Oil Africa 2008 was the premier event designed to assist international partners & suppliers to develop and expand the supply of existing services and infrastructure that include rig maintenance and repair, engineering, marine, logistics and industrial services. What was the aim of the PR campaign? To create public awareness around the conference and exhibition and encourage delegates and interested parties to the conference and exhibition. To highlight key issues in the oil and gas industry.

The Brief Through a strategic PR campaign:- Generate exposure for Oil Africa 2008 to encourage delegate attendance and exhibitor presence. Announce the Oil Africa exhibition and conference to the news, business and trade media. Position the conference as the premier symposium for the industry in Africa. Profile speakers and pitch their presentations to print, broadcast and online media in order to promote the Oil Africa exhibition and conference. Generate debate about issues facing the energy/oil industry across the continent and globally that extended beyond the niche target audience to engage with broader business and general consumer. Attend the conference and host the press room Assist media with interviews and news story angles throughout the duration of the conference. Ensure that post coverage was obtained to position the conference for 2010.

Outcomes Media Relations Results The total campaign publicity for the period equated to R 8.2 million. Total Media helped to raise awareness of the Oil Africa conference not only nationally but also internationally. Advance interest has been received from potential exhibitors which bodes well for the 2010 conference.
