War Breaks Out in Europe U.S. Enters World War I

Causes of World War I Imperialism: The policy by which stronger nations extend their economic, political, or military control over weaker nations or territores. (Colonies) * Scramble for Africa * Britain, France, Italy, Netherlands, and Germany * Munich Conference * Germany felt it deserved more than it recieved

Causes of World War I Nationalism: A feeling of pride, loyalty, and protectiveness towards ones’ country. * Franco-Prussian War ( ) * Germany * France wins loses * Germany Gains Alsace-Lorriane

Causes of World War I Militarism: The belief that a nation needs a large military force. * Germany builds up its military to stop France from trying to take Alsace-Lorraine back. * France builds up its military in fear that Germany may attack again and take more land. * Great Britain (2 Power Standard) builds up its Navy in response to Germany building ups its Navy.
