Website and Edline Usage Our school web site serves as a venue to reach prospective families and students as well as providing alumni and current families with up to date news and happenings on and around the campus. The SAOPCS web site serves as a tool to inform families of general announcements and accolades, training and education on parent information topics, advancement and grant opportunities for the school and current news items from school administration and staff.

Edline Purpose: To ensure a more complete means of correspondence between the school and parents. Allowing students and parents constant access and timely and efficient updates on classroom and school activities. Means: Direct communication by alerts and updates from teachers and staff. Web browser enabling data retrieval such as newsletters, homework assignments*, combined calendars. * Homework assignments will not replace the written instructions from the teacher to the student in the classroom. This is intended only as a source of last-minute as needed basis.

EDLINE© St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School uses Edline© to supplement the school web site with class/teacher, department, team and club web pages. Edline© was chosen because it interfaces with the school’s current administrative software, Administrator’s Plus© by Rediker and grade book program, Grade Quick© by Jackson Software. Edline© was designed to be easy for teachers and staff use in a K-12 setting. Edline© sets up quickly and there is no need to retype or recreate information. Users cut and paste into Edline©, or type directly onto an Edline© page. Users can upload pre-existing content (homework, photos, news, etc.) from existing common desktop software such as Word© to Edline© web pages using just a browser – no knowledge of HTML is required.

There are many uses of Edline© including: Providing a private, secure environment to communicate from school to home Posting class–specific content, such as homework assignments, test dates, resources and photographs Allowing teams, clubs, parent organizations, departments and other groups to communicate items such as due dates, practice schedules, meetings and activities Provides a vehicle to disseminate general school information, such as news, announcements, calendars, activities, events, etc

It is hoped that through the use of Edline© we will increase parent involvement, raise student achievement and save paper- based operating expenses. In time, Edline© will become the major communication vehicle for the school community.

Expectations All teachers and departments are expected to have an operational webpage beginning with the first day of school. The instructional technology staff will offer training and be a resource of support for the implementation of teacher webpages. Webpages should be updated weekly/biweekly, at a minimum, to encourage communication within the school community.
